About two months ago I was given a copy of Blood Meridian by a girlfriend. Knowing that I hadn't read anything but nonfiction for about 2 years she figured it would help reignite my interest in literature.
Read it in about a month while working nightshift and absolute loved it. I followed that with The Road, not as good but good. Now I am about 50 pages into No Country for Old Men, and I am digging it.
So, I have declared the summer of 2023 to be my Summer of Mccarthy. Before The 1st of September I will finish another 3 Mccarthy novels (that's three after finishing NCFOM). Ideally, I will buy each copy used to add to the excitement of having to locate each book (yes, I'm a dork).

I tried the service about a year ago. And for some reason, I notice the picture quality is actually lower now (I’m still in same location) my download is 1.2 GB upload is 75mb, and literally before I was actually impressed by the picture quality, so idk what the heck happened, I’ve tried every browser. And sad that there’s still no keyboard and mouse support natively from MS….sad given MS is a pc company first for the biggest OS.
So yeah I paid for a month, but can’t justify keeping the subscription when the quality seems to have dropped and they just won’t add a bitrate slider that people can just adjust to what their internet can handle. And still no K&B. Maybe a a couple years from now, they’ll make some forward progress again or maybe they’ll just wipe the whole service like google did. Can’t trust this big companies, especially with how slow their progress to improve the platform has been.

On an earnings call, CEO Tom Siebel added that the company wasn't "inclined to change expectations" surrounding its guidance, compared to the major boost that Nvidia's (NVDA) stock received following its "jaw-dropping guidance" posted last week.
Snapshot: Other AI players and chipmakers also pulled back yesterday following some impressive runups, but the latest movement might suggest that all companies are not equal when it comes to the "AI supercycle." Investors will have some deep learning to do after being consumed by everything AI this year, especially as they sort through the growing list of companies talking up how they've been AI plays all along. The real thing to consider is how much a firm will successfully capitalize and monetize its artificial intelligence offerings after the meme rallies settle down and huge price swings come to a halt.
"The euphoria is rooted in a very promising underlying technology," noted Robert Schein of Blanke Schein Wealth Management. It produced 60,000 ounces at a grade of 1.6 oz/ton. Later this summer one rig will test the potential for broad zones of mineralization surrounding the high-grade veins. This is similar to the very successful approach taken in the Dolphin Cleary Area during the 2020 – 2022 program. Based on historical mapping, there are numerous gold occurrences with significant veining in the target area which represents significant potential for discovery. The Saddle Zone has a 2.5 km by 1.0 km target area that has not been systematically drill tested. This makes it an excellent target for possible additional resources. Golden Summit has already demonstrated the potential to host significant resources. The 2023 resource update vaulted Golden Summit into one of the largest undeveloped gold resources in North America A sample quality control/quality assurance program was implemented. Drill cores were cut in half using a diamond saw, with one-half placed in sealed bags for preparation and subsequent geochemical analysis by ALS Chemex. All assays were performed by ALS Global Ltd., with sample preparation conducted at the ALS facility in Fairbanks, Alaska , with subsequent studies conducted primarily using its Vancouver and Reno laboratories. Core samples were prepared using the PREP-31BY package in ALS's facility. Each core sample is crushed to better than 70 % passing a 2 mm (Tyler 9 mesh, US Std. No.10) screen. A split of 1kg is taken and pulverized to better than 85 % passing a 75-micron (Tyler 200 mesh, US Std. No. 200) screen; a portion of this pulverized split is digested by Four Acid and analyzed via ICP-AES (method code ME-ICP61). Fire Assay analyzes all samples with an AAS finish, method code Au-AA23 (30g sample size) and over 10 g/t are automatically assayed using a FA Grav method, Au-GRAV21. Additional Au screening is performed using ALS's Au- SCR24 method; select samples are dry-screened to 100 microns. A duplicate 50g fire assay is conducted on the little fraction and an assay on the entire oversize fraction. Total Au content, individual assays, and weight fractions are reported. Analytical and assay procedures are conducted in ALS's North Vancouver and Reno facilities. A QA/QC program included laboratory and field standards inserted every ten samples. Blanks are inserted at the start of the submittal, and at least one blank every 25 standards, with additional blanks inserted following samples of visible gold. I had some recent hail damage to my condenser unit. Insurance tried to give me $180 to fix it. HVAC tech came out and said there was no way the coil could be repaired, so long story short, insurance is giving me $8,000 to replace the condenser & evap coil inside. The rest is on me.
My furnace (Goodman) is 21 years old, so obviously this is tempting me to replace everything at once.
I've had a few quotes so far, and there are mainly differences in equipment. I'm in Denver, CO. Currently use a 3.5 ton Payne A/C & 80% Goodman. Live in a 2,200 sq. ft home (including finished basement). 1650 sq. ft without. Split level home so we fight with heat in the summer upstairs, but not a big issue.

OR maybe it's a night photo of the starry skies enveloping one of the Big Ears of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory, run by Caltech since 1958, located in beautiful Owens Valley CA. This particular one is a decommissioned radio telescope, as it was not operating and has peeling paint. I lit the radio telescope with a ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device during the long exposure in a special art known as light painting. Special thanks to Caltech for granting special permission for me to photograph here. Does it make sense to get an electric car to use up that energy overproduction? How much energy does an EV need per year if I drive roughly 10k miles? This year I spent nearly $200 per month in car fuel alone. The car sits at home during the day mostly (wfh)

My family, my friends, the places I’ve traveled too. The beautiful landscapes of CA, and the smiles of the people I’ve met. We are only 3000 shots in, but it feels like I’ve known you a lifetime. For the first time ever, I’m seeing the world through your focal length now, and going out into the world with you by my side simply feels like an extension of myself. As a father, as a husband, as an adventurer… you give me enough vision to capture everything in view, but enough focus when I want to see just my subjects only. I couldn’t ask for anything more from a friend. One day I may venture out into other focal ranges, but I’ll never forget the memories we are making today. Thank you for the clarity, sharpness, reliability, and overall beautifully rendered images of the way I see the world. I love you. ❤️ ________ 😬 Does anybody just live with this prime on their camera? Most of my photos are travel/family. Dad of two and we love to travel. This lens has literally lived on my camera for a year; and I’m over 3000 shots in and I’m loving it. I also own a sigma 56 and a Viltrox 13; and I find myself barely grabbing for those too. Back when I shot on an Canon R5, the 15-35 lived in that camera and most of the time I was shooting between 15-24. But something about this fuji lens is just incredible and helped me find the beauty of the 35mm focal length. I find I can grab the landscape shot without it being too tight, and grab the beautiful family portraits without it being too wide. Environmental portraits of where we travel help capture unique memories and moments I’ll never forget. Ive never had this much fun shooting, and it’s all due to this focal length. In my last three years of researching photography, I see 24, 28, and 50 focal lengths talked about a lot. But man, 35mm…. There’s a special feeling too it. Kinda like going to Disneyland. Some people may have the opinion it’s the jack of all trades master of none, but I find it as the master of all trades; and anything outside the realm of what it can do is a niche (super wide landscapes/architecture or super long telephotos you simply need a 70-300 or 100-400 for). I’ve had to break out the 13mm every now and then for a telling landscape; and back in my R5 days I made good use of a 100-500 in certain travel locations; but never in my life have I fallen in love with a focal length as I have the 35mm. I thought I always needed a zoom. Little did I now what a prime could teach me. ✌️ |
