2023.06.01 14:39 burningexeter Let me ask this as just a simple question: what can you see being in the same universe as ABC's LOST whether it would be other shows or maybe even movies for that matter.
| Here's what I got for myself on my end with this here: It's simultaneously a headcanon and a fan theory that LOST is set in the same universe as many other TV shows which are just standalone stories that just so happen to take place in the same world albeit with different tones and different styles as they all show the multiple different perspectives to this world that's similar to ours except it's where literally anything can happen as long as it's either somewhat grounded or at least grounded to some degree. It consists of all the following: Oz (HBO), The Wire, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul/El Camino, Sons Of Anarchy/Mayans MC, The X Files (the first nine seasons)/Millennium/The Lone Gunmen, Buffy The Vampire SlayeAngel, LOST (Ha! there it is), Heroes (the first season), 24, The Shield, Dexter (the first five seasons), Chuck, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Hannibal, Crossing Jordan, Las Vegas, Seinfeld, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, Malcolm In The Middle, Arrested Development (the first three seasons), Drake & Josh, Pair Of Kings and even Transformers Prime/Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising. submitted by burningexeter to lost [link] [comments] |
2023.06.01 14:39 -____-frog Snap trying to force permissions
I've been using Snapchat for years and hadn't had any issues until a few months ago. The app started saving everything I saved in the app and putting it in my camera roll. I changed my permission to not allow access to local storage and it worked for a while, but now I cannot use the app without giving it access. I used to be able to get around it by backing out of the app and reopening. Why is it trying to force access to my camera roll?

2023.06.01 14:37 AA56561 [Procurement] Type 1001 LST & Type 1002 LCACs
In a hypothetical conflict over the issue of Reunification of the Chinese people, it is possible that the People’s Liberation Army Navy must be able to help deploy great numbers of troops and their heavy equipment straight to the landing zones, in a highly contested environment brimming with stand-off munitions, artillery and other hazards. To meet this challenge, the designers of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation have come up with the Type 1001 class LST vessels. As it stands, the People’s Liberation Army Navy operates more than 60 landing ships of various sizes and types, with some being “ancient” by any definition of the world.
The Type 1001 LST vessel has a length of 165 meters, a width of 25 meters and a displacement of a whopping 12,000 tons. It will be able to transport up to twenty main battle tanks of the ZTZ-99A standard, or a mix of other vehicles such as APCs, IFVs and armored vehicles, as well as up to 500 troops and 2,000 tons of supplies or other pieces of cargo. The vessels of the class will have a beaching capability, meaning they can unload their carried hardware directly onto the beaches. Should this be deemed too dangerous, the vessels will also have the necessary facilities for the utilization of smaller LCACs or LCUs.
In order to permit aerial operations, the vessels will be fitted with a helicopter deck, capable of being used by two medium-sized helicopters at a time. These helicopters may be used in landing operations, or may serve alternative purposes such as the exchange of personal or additional hardware. As the vessels are expected to serve in heavily contested environments, they will be equipped with close-in-weapons-systems, as well as a modern radar and communication suite to permit for optimal coordination between commanders and surveillance of the surroundings. A total of 10 such vessels are expected to be procured by the People’s Liberation Army Navy as soon as possible.

Type 1002 LCACs
The Type 1002 LCACs are expected to serve in conjunction with the rest of China’s amphibious forces, and play an absolutely critical role in transporting military hardware across the Strait of “Taiwan” in any potential and hypothetical conflict. With the ability to transport more than 100 tons and 300 soldiers per trip, the Type 1002 LCACs promise to massively expand the amphibious capabilities of the People’s Liberation Army Navy. The vessels will utilize an advanced air cushion system, allowing for them to operate over ground, marshes and water, with them effectively hovering over any obstacles. This capability will be very important in any theoretical landings.
The vessels will be capable of achieving high speeds of around 40 knots, and will be designed to be as agile as possible. Seeing as the LCACs will enter zones which are hostile, they will receive armor plating to offer increased protection against small arms fire, shrapnel, and low-level ballistic threats. Additionally, each LCAC will be equipped with multiple small caliber machine guns and a single CIWS, to fend off enemy troops and potential munitions against the vessel.

2023.06.01 14:36 skx45 AM5 PC takes around 2 minutes to POST
So this is a brand new PC, it was built yesterday, I will list the spec and run through the changes made.
Motherboard: Gigabyte X370 Aorus Elite AX CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X
Memory: Klevv 64gb (4 x 16gb) DDR5 6000mhz
SSD: 2x Crucial Pcie Gen 5 M.2 (1000gb and 2000gb)
PSU: Corsair 1000W
GPU: RTX 4080
The PC was fine when it was first built, the first change was taking out the RGB PCie extender for the graphics card, as it was no longer required. Once the extender was removed, and the GPU power was connected directly to the PSU PCie plugins, it refused to POST. I removed all memory except for one stick, and it POSTed fine again, the PC refused to POST with all memory plugged back in.
I then tried all components on a different motherboard, and it worked fine. I removed the original board from the case, plugged everything back in, and it worked fine outside the case. However, the issue now is it takes around 1-2 minutes to POST.
The issue is driving me insane, any help would be much appreciated.

2023.06.01 14:36 eunderscore As we're in the summer holidays, I decided to rank the players who had played at every squad number in my Villa supporting life.
This is simply, roughly, my preference of who I would want in the team based on those available at that number.
Many players had more than one number, so I put them in the one they appeared in most, or were most recognisable in (for instance, JG had 3 seasons as 40 or something and 3 as 7). Also, this is based on their time at the club, not their overall career.
And this is my vague opinion, don't get mad.

- Soul Eater has a firm hold on #1 most mentioned book for two months in a row now (and was #11 before that) - clearly the When She Belongs fan club is going to have to step up their game!
- We had 5 authors break into the top 20 most mentioned this month: Kati Wilde, KJ Charles, JT Geissinger, Eve Dangerfield, and Emily Henry. A personal victory for the Kati Wilde rep, Eve Dangerfield's movement is not surprising given the great AMA she did, and of course Emily Henry had a new book Happy Place that some people didn't vibe with while others enjoyed the easter eggs. KJ Charles and JT Geissinger's rise is more curious though - any thoughts on what's behind their bump?
- Without fail, every time I read "Morning Glory by LaVyrle Spencer" my brain only reads the beginning and immediately assumes Morning Glory Milking Farm - which then causes whiplash as I double check why on earth MGMF would be one of the top Low Steam books mentioned...
Hope you enjoyed this month's stats!

2023.06.01 14:34 Chukapiks How does iCloud for Windows conflict with Sideloadly
Hi, I'd like to use Sideloadly but the installer it provides for iCloud for Windows is way outdated (from 2020, version 7.x while the MS Store one is on 14.x).
I'd like to know if I could still be using Sideloadly while keeping the MS version of iCloud for Windows somehow (for example by closing the iCloud app while I sideload) or if I'm out of sideloading if I want to keep the updated iCloud app ?

2023.06.01 14:34 ssmokvaa Best post processing tool for my use case
TLDR: What is the best approach when it comes to post processing data that comes in constantly?
The context is as follows: part of the application I'm working on processes live data and finally writes into ElasticSearch among other values, the type of the outcome of that processing. Due to the nature of the data, X number of processings (and writings to ES) must pass in order to detect one of the specific outcomes of the mentioned processing. My task is to subsequently, after writing to ES, in a certain time range, find documents that are marked incorrectly due to the inevitable incorrect marking of documents in the phase until the anomaly is discovered.
For each range of N minutes, I would have to search multiple times over all the documents generated in that range until I find all the problematic documents.

cycling Looking for some help in finding bikes that made to be used on the road or gravel, and have flat bar Geometry. Drops aren't working for my nerves (no matter how many times I get fit, so Flat Bars are my go to. Mountain biking all day leaves me in zero pain, where the road bike gets me numb in 15 minutes. I was riding a 2019 BMC Road Machine X is that matters?

2023.06.01 14:32 Tsunaes RX 5700 XT black screen / amdwddmg error
Hi folks!
For some time now, I've been experiencing random freezes and then black screens. They usually last for 5-10 seconds, and then most of my windows close (Discord, Chrome, AMD Software, any game) and an AMD error message appears: "AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system.". After that, I notice some display glitches (for example, I can't see any text when I press Win). I can't launch any games or watch YouTube videos without experiencing more black screens. The AMD software doesn't restart at all, and I have to manually restart my PC to get it working properly again.
The black screens mostly occur when I'm playing a game (any game and at any graphics quality), watching YouTube videos, or when I take screenshots (Win + Shift + S) and try to annotate them with the pen (although, in the case of screenshots, unlike other black screens, no windows close, and I can continue to use my computer normally, except I can't finish the annotation). It also happens, less frequently, when I'm on the desktop with Discord running in the background.
However, except for the screenshots, it doesn't happen every time. I can go for weeks with only experiencing black screens, and then several weeks without any issues.
In my search through the Windows Event Viewer, I found a warning message at the time of my last black screen: "Event 4101, Display: The display driver amdwddmg stopped responding.".
Here's what I have already tried: installing the latest available AMD drivers, reinstalling AMD drivers by resetting to factory settings, turning off the system's fast startup, turning off "AMD Driver Issue Reporting", clearing the AMD Card Shader Cache, disabling FreeSync and Virtual Super Resolution, performing a clean Windows reinstall, changing the HDMI cable for my main monitor, which had slight connectivity issues. And now, I don't know what else I could try.
