2023.06.01 14:16 ZigSanity I'd like to see a report raid feature
Got a few thousand hours and have probably run labs now at this point over a 1,000 times. There's certain behavior I see on labs that sometimes make it hard for me to believe they're legit players. Lot of guys will come in, loot one or two very specific spots and then leave. Either it'll be a random PC block, one of the high value spots on the main floor, a bag, or something else and leave within 3-5 minutes. For example: just played labs, at spawn in, someone hits main elevator on the other side of me, I don't hear it and start looting black. Someone comes to weapon testing, goes to the other side, opens yellow, and hits two or three main valuable spawns except violet and they don't even both with the multiple spawns in dark office, and just leave. Less than 4 minutes in and they're gone. Or there's the random raids someone comes in, doesnt even go into the quest room, and leaves within 30-45 seconds of raid start.
I can only run one region so I tend to run into the same guys. Raid I just had had a lvl 22 hacker do similar stuff with his friend then grenade me through a window in a room they'd already gone into and shouldn't have know I was in.
Not sure if it's same ones, but similar behavior, then they just leave in less than 4 minutes on the timer. Really odd to me. Would love a report raid feature so maybe they can start getting extra data that helps narrow down cheaters on their system. Basically would just add people of it happens enough to a suspected list, then go from their when they get more specific reports or data points.
Mainly I want a report raid feature because I'm not always killed by these guys, they actively avoid me, and I have no means to report them. If it's abused like the reporting system we have now, they can do the same thing, and ignore your spam reports.

2023.06.01 14:16 Otherwise_Tip_3614 Anybody else use this approach with their kids?
Just found this sub. My 6yo son asked me about Star Wars last weekend. I told him it was a fantastic trilogy created collaboratively by a hit and miss idea guy named George Lucas who had a flash of creative brilliance in late 70s followed by an unfortunate decades long descent into stubborn myopia and greed, effectively ending the franchise in 1983. Then we had a great time watching the Despecialized Editions. He said “What happens next?” I told him use your imagination like Dad did back when I used to read StarLog Magazine and dream about how cool new movies would be, because what’s in your head will always be better. Then I gave him some old toys. Beautiful. Pure. Later his friend came over and started babbling about some other crap and my son said this is a “no prequel no sequel home.” I love my kids.

2023.06.01 14:16 MainStageNews Proactive Remediation vs Win32 Apps
Hi,
I've been using Intune since late 2020 early 2021. Most of my reg changes I've setup as custom Win32 apps. Items like disabling fast startup, .NET TLS changes, and a few security related changes. I really wish more of the registry was exposed through OMA-URI's but in my experience it's fairly limited which is why I stuck with Win32 apps. Hopefully one day the entire registry is exposed through OMA-URI's.
I know proactive remediation scripts have been out for a little while. Most of the use cases seem to be simple reg changes like I've described I'm doing with Win32 packages. Looking over documentation I don't find anything pulling me strongly to re-develop some of these items Win32 apps into proactive remediation.
They seem very equivalent. In my mind the detection script is my detection method and remediation script is the PowerShell file I call upon for the Win32 app. With Win32 I get the benefit of making some items a requirement on the Enrollment Status Page which is important for some security related items
IT is all about learning so maybe there's something I'm not understanding. Is there something I'm missing about proactive remediation that should pull me in that direction for simple reg changes? It has to be worth the time to re-write some stuff. I also work at an MSP and I've written automation to upload Win32 apps but I don't have this for pro-active remediation. So, the juice really needs to be worth the squeeze.
Thanks in advanced for everyone's thoughts!

2023.06.01 14:15 Ok-Reward-6390 [21/M] be my half
I haven’t even flirted with anyone for such a long time that I thought this could be fun. I’d have loved to say that the idea of doing this came to me during a dream, but I haven’t dreamt in a long time.
I am a 21 years old male from a big city in Brazil. I am going to university for a social sciences degree, and I have done pretty well so far. Besides all that, I write poetry on the side, and I work for a small online newspaper.
I am fascinated fairly often by many things and I have many hobbies so you won’t be bored. Last month I became fascinated by Spanish modern history after reading Preston’s biography of Francisco Franco and I was reading about the Miracle on the Han River yesterday, while my family gave a lunch party and I had to keep myself entertained while they discussed the tragedy of a heiress’ dog many illnesses, which were mysteriously shared with his owner, and some reforms in the Vatican Bank. But yes, in general, I really enjoy the humanities. I follow politics keenly – in fact, there is some chance I might have some thoughts on your country’s politics – and I’d say I am on the centre-left – pro-choice, in favour of a robust welfare state, LGBTQ+ rights, affirmative action. If you know about Brazilian politics, I voted for Marina and Haddad in 2018 (the voting age here is 16), and Lula last year.
As you can imagine, I also really enjoy reading and writing. Besides poetry, I have often thought about reading a novel, but this seems like too much work – and it seems that it would be arrogant of me to write a novel having lived this little. I really enjoy learning about other languages and cultures and I know a bit of French, German, Spanish, and Russian, besides English and Portuguese. I am into genealogy and I have helped a few friends with it. I also really enjoy TV shows and cinema, and I am easily brought to tears. I cried during the last Minions movie, even if I didn’t want to be there. I love music and my taste in it has been described as “fairly gay”. I’d have loved to be a musician, but I’d have loved to have been many things.
I guess I am pretty introverted, polite, and timid. I am affectionate and I can be really passionate as well. And I am fairly funny, or rather, I have made a few people laugh over the years. I asked a close friend to describe myself, and that is what he said:
I think you’re very communicative. Shrewd, funny, a good companion. Kind of withdrawn but not necessarily shy. You avoid conflict and unnecessary arguments, but love to participate in good conversations. I think you’re very kind too, besides being polite.
As for what I want to do with my life, I am unsure though I am inclined to go into academia. I have been considering applying to a PhD program in the U.S. after finishing my undergrad here in Brazil. My family does want me to go into their business, which is related to politics. I have also considered going into diplomacy.
Who am I looking for? I’d look like someone curious about the world around her, and open-minded.
Some poems I really like:

2023.06.01 14:15 wrathofthenova Asus RoG X670e Crosshair Hero. Faulty unresponsive RGB. Should I RMA because of RGB?
| I bought the motherboard in October. Since day one I have had issues with the RGB and armoury crate. It started with the lighting working fine and motherboard was detected in Armoury crate until I launched a game. When gaming the RGB would crash. All settings and animation would freeze and lock up and the motherboard would disappear from armoury crate. It progressed to RGB freezing at boot. Motherboard doesn't appear in Armoury crate at all. I am at my wits end with it. I have tried every suggestion online. Uninstalled, reinstalled Armoury Crate. Used revo uninstaller. Installed old aura sync. I have even gone nuclear and wiped everything and clean installed Windows. I tried to turn off rgb in bios in an effort to ignore it. It doesn't follow bios settings. I even removed 2 dimms because Ive read Am5 doesn't like more than 2. So... I spent $700 on this board. Would you and should I Rma it over RGB? Everything else is great performance is excellent. PC is phenomenal except for stupid lights. Seems dumb to rma for lights. Thoughts? submitted by wrathofthenova to pcmasterrace [link] [comments] |
2023.06.01 14:15 Aeogeus The Heart of Zeforo: Chapter 23
First Chapter/
Previous Chapter Keoki and Eik pulled on the wire as the container was hauled high into the air. Even with the significantly reduced gravity and the block and tackle taking most of the weight, it took considerable elbow grease to get it in position.
He rubbed his eyes and tried to ignore the smell of rotting flesh. He glanced over at his handy work and immediately had to look away. It had been his idea, and when Keoki had begun constructing it, he had believed he would never get off this ship.
Keoki had been so angry when he had done it, but now that the uren were beaten, he could feel a nagging guilt begin to stir in him. Keoki buried it; there would be time for self-reflection later; right now, there was some stuck-up, fat bastard wanting to make his friends into pets, or worse.
Melia, Polumnus and Qerik arrived shortly after they began to haul another container.
“We’ve got to be ready soon. This will probably be the last cargo fall we can prepare,” Keoki explained as his muscles ached under the strain.
“Where are they?” Melia asked.
“Just two doors away. And from what Ha said, they’re almost through the first one, so I told them to regroup with us; they should be here shortly,” Keoki replied as he and Eik tied off the nanotube wire, and they leapt to the ground.
“I would love to see you people in your natural habitat,” Qerik said, astounded by the height Keoki had fallen without injury.
“It wouldn’t be all that impressive unless you were watching the Olympics. Those people can really move,” Keoki said.
“How many traps could you set up?” Melia asked; this was no time for distraction.
“Seven container falls; we’ve also littered spots with shrapnel; probably won’t get through a good boot, but you know every little helps,” Keoki answered.
“We’ve also set up some barricades to funnel them where we want them to go, we tried to make them look as natural as possible, but time constraints and all that,” Keoki added.
“You did well, but I’ve been discussing it with Polumnus and Qerik, and we cannot attack immediately,” Melia explained.
“Why not?” Keoki said, his eyes fixed squarely on Melia, his heart rate increasing and his knees bent slightly, ready to move the instant his fears came to light.
Polumnus noticed the shift in posture and said, “we’re not selling you out; it’s just with this being a politician of a foreign power, we needed to offer them a chance to leave without a fight, something that will hold up in an inquiry or a trial.
Keoki relaxed, though not entirely. He did not fully trust the vo’rul and was conscious that simply giving up him and the obed would be the fastest way to ensure their own safety. He had not been too worried about the uren, they had shot Tres, and he had counted on anger and the desire for revenge to protect him.
After a brief pause, Keoki said, “I see; I believe it would be best if I am the one who talks with them.”
“Absolutely not, you are a civilian, and we will not risk your life like that,” Melia replied instantly, and her tone brooked no argument.
Keoki was human, however, and the tone did not translate along with her words.
“The Senator appears to be a collector of sorts, as far as we can tell. Whether he has deviant tastes or just likes owning stuff, we cannot say, but if I show up, an utterly unknown alien, then he is far more likely to issue a no-fire order,” Keoki explained.
Melia was about to argue; she could not deny that it made a lot of sense. Even so, Melia was unwilling to let it happen.
“No, Keoki, we will handle it; you are not trained in negotiations; I am,” Melia stated.
“You’re trained in negotiations?” Keoki asked.
“It was part of my officer training, yes,” Melia explained.
“Fine, you’re the professional,” Keoki conceded, though he had doubts she could reason with them.
“Just be ready to spring the trap,” Melia said, approaching the door.
“Just don’t stand underneath the containers when they fall,” Keoki replied.
Melia handed Keoki Tres’s side arm before asking, “do you know how to use this.”
"I know enough to shoot it,” Keoki answered, taking the weapon from her.
“Good enough. What about the obed? Can they use them?” Melia inquired.
“Yes, but not very well. They have to use both hands to operate them,” Keoki explained.
“Get ready!” Melia ordered as they heard the unmistakable sound of a welding torch behind the door and bolt cutters shearing through metal.
As Keoki sat beside Qerik in a hidden nook, he asked the vo’rul, “when Melia said she has training, what are we talking about? Master hostage negotiator or a three-hour slideshow seminar?”
Qerik did not reply immediately, and Keoki felt his heart sink.
“The latter,” Qerik answered.
“Oh, goody,” Keoki said, his voice monotone.
As the door opened, Melia said loudly and firmly, “Parley!”
Several of the Senator's troops pointed their weapons at her. It was an interesting thing to see. The Kireet had two sets of weapons; the first was a rifle, which they aimed by sitting down and aiming the gun with their hind limbs, now unburned by walking. It made the Kireet vulnerable, but their biology limited them; they could not stand upright.
The second was a pair of V.I.-assisted automatic weapons hanging from a harness, meaning the Kireet could lay down considerable firepower.
Luckily the Kireet had sat down before reaching the caltrops, they were well hidden in the gloom, and Melia tried to avoid looking at them, doing her best not to draw the Kireets’ attention.
“Captain Melia,” one of the Kireet said, lowering the weapons of their compatriots.
“Who are you?” Melia asked, her tone neutral, neither aggressive nor compassionate.
“I am Captain Utreka Nor Bar Ioban, of the Grestu Company,” the Kireet explained.
“You’re a mercenary,” Melia said.
“Partially true; I prefer private defence contractor,” Utreka replied.
Melia did not comment on that; call yourself whatever you wanted; a merc was still a merc.
“Well, Captain, could you please explain what you’re doing here after the Senator said you were leaving?” Melia asked.
“Let’s not dance around the trunk Melia; you know why we’re here, now give them to us, and you’ll get to see your home again,” Utreka explained, dropping the facade of civility.
Melia was not too surprised; the mercs were not being paid by the hour and were incentivised to get it done as quickly as possible.
“I have a counter offer surrender, face justice, give up your employer, and you’ll get out of this alive,” Melia stated.
Utreka spoke, and the Kireet raised their weapons. Keoki sighed; they needed to lure them into a trap, not have them fire on Melia immediately.
Keoki came out of hiding and shouted, “time out!” forming the letter T with his hands.
The Kireet paused what they were doing; they were so astounded at the sight of a new alien that they momentarily forgot themselves.
Utreka received a command from the Senator and asked, “who and what are you?”
“I am Keoki, and I am a human,” Keoki replied, looking at Melia. He could only imagine how upset she was with him, but he knew this was the best way to spring their trap.
Utreka got another command and asked Keoki, “what are you doing here?”
“There was an accident with my ship, and I was flung far off course,” Keoki replied, hoping the bastard in charge would get what he was saying and take the bait.
“Why aren’t you wearing a mask like the rest of us?” asked Utreka, instinctively checking his own to be sure it was fitted correctly.
“I am from a world called Earth; I believe you people would designate it a class J planet,” Keoki explained, taking in a lungful of air to emphasise the point.
The Kireet knew that the biohazard was genuine; they had checked it themselves. Another private conversation between the mercenary and the Senator occurred before Utreka said, “The Senator would love to meet with you, Keoki.”
“I’m sure he would,” Keoki said, tapping his head.
“I am inclined to accept the offer, but before I do, they’re something I want to show you all behind those containers,” Keoki added, pointing to the large stack of crates that concealed his macabre art piece.
To the Kireets’ credit, they did not fall for the obvious trap and held their position. As their attention was focused on Keoki, Melia swallowed her pride and slowly made her way to a dark corridor.
“We will have to decline, Keoki; please come with us,” Utreka stated.
Keoki just smiled and began to walk away slowly, his demeanour utterly at odds with the panic he felt.
The Kireet aimed their weapons at Keoki, and Utreka ordered him to stop, but Keoki ignored them.
However, the Gretsu Company did not fire, and Keoki did not doubt that The Senator was giving them orders not to hurt him.
Keoki supposed the Senator already imagined the fantastic enclosure he would build for him.
As he disappeared, Basof demanded that Utreka and his soldier follow after Keoki and bring him back.
Utreka argued, but Basof just offered the man more money, and the mercenary Captian could not argue with that.
Utreka ordered his soldiers to advance with the three on point, backed up by the fourteen behind, with a further thirty in reserve waiting in the corridor.
They did not know how many vo’rul there were, and the human’s capabilities were unknown. So Utreka was playing this safe; he needed enough people to round up the choloshe; the Senator was willing to pay one hundred thousand Pitre for each one brought in alive.
Greed, as usual, got the better of common sense, and as the first three Kireet turned the corner, they froze in their tracks.
“Why are you just standing there?” asked Utreka.
He received no reply.
“Turick, I asked you a question!” Utreka shouted.
Again he received no reply.
Utreka tried to get an answer five more times, but when one of his troops collapsed, Utreka decided that whatever it was, he needed to see it for himself.
In an instant, Utreka understood. The Grestu Company were not good people, and Utreka had ordered more than a few war crimes in his time, but this! This was on a whole other level.
The Zeforo’s crew had never been a concern for them. The uren were just nobodies; their testimony could be easily swept under the rug. Not that Utreka would have spared them, he had a good deal going with the Senator and would not risk for a bunch of smugglers. Utreka would not seek them out, however.
He realised that would not be necessary; the uren were displayed in a grizzly display, broken, eviscerated, flayed and a dozen other synonyms for mutilated.
Sat underneath them, their teeth displayed in a way that could only be described as deranged, was Keoki.
“Do you like my work, mercenary?” Keoki asked.
“Go!” Keoki commanded.
Utreka was inclined to obey; the Senator paid well but not enough to deal with this.
“Bring me that alien, Captain!” Basof ordered; he may have had to endure the delay in his choloshe, but this human was a fine bonus and more than made up for it.
“Grab him!” Utreka ordered.
“YA!” Keoki shouted, and every Kireet halted; they had no idea how such a small person could make a noise so loud.
The Kireet had just raised their weapons when two containers flattened three of them.
Those three Grestu company were probably the lucky ones; their deaths had been swift, almost instantaneous. As the vo’rul opened fire, a few more were brought down by shots to the arms and legs; one was struck in the head, while a second took three plasma rounds to the chests.
As the Kireet scattered for cover, they inevitably ran into the shrapnel, their boots protected them from most of the damage, but a few unlucky sods tripped and were perforated.
One Kireet took cover behind a container before hearing a noise to their right. She had just enough time to look and register a snarling face filled with sharp teeth before her neck snapped and her head torn from her body.
“Ho’opa’i,” Nor said as he retreated to the shadows, his old joints complaining.
Another container fell to the floor, this one did not injure anyone, but it did limit the Kireets’ movement.
Utreka might have been an honorless soldier, but he was not incompetent; he would not have been able to charge the high rates he did if that were the case. He ordered his mercs into a defensible position and signalled the reinforcements to begin flanking the enemy.
Moreover, the Kireet also noticed the other containers suspended in the air and began to shoot at them, bringing them down ahead of schedule and blowing a massive hole in Keoki’s plan.
Though one Kireet did not get an opportunity to celebrate as Keoki emerged from the dark, shot them in the head and retreated.
The tide was turning against the vo’rul, obed and Keoki. Qerik and Melia had both taken a few shots and were forced to fall back. Meanwhile, Keoki and the obed were unable to find any opening to pick off the Grestu.
“Keoki, we need to pull back,” Melia ordered.
“On it,” Keoki replied as he rounded up his friends and told them to retreat to a more defensible position.
As they retreated, they were peppered by fire, but none of them were hit.
“How are we doing?” Melia asked as they sealed the door to the cargo bay.
“Boh took a hit, but her crappy armour sucked up most of it, just a minor burn,” Keoki explained.
“We need a plan B, and we need it fast,” Qerik said, pulling a cabinet from an adjoining room and placing it up against the door. Not that it would do much, but as Keoki had said, "every little helps."
“We can do a fighting retreat, using the corridors as killing fields,” Polumnus suggested.
“Good enough; take positions at the end of the corridor and fire on my mark!” Melia ordered.
They stood there for four minutes without so much as a peep from the door ahead. At which point, Eik tapped Keoki's shoulder and said, “What about other doors?”
“Oh shit!” Keoki said as they were struck by laser fire from the right.

Please only comment if you have something to say, don't if you haven't read the paragraph
I have been talking to this girl for about a month now. Got a snap for her. After some time I just decided to ask her out. She has a busy schedule and studies a lot so I told her "I just wanted to tell you that I've loved talking to you these past two weeks (it was two weeks at the time) and I think it's really inspiring how committed you are to your studies and extra curricular. I think you're amazing in so many ways, and I wanted to ask if I may have the honour of taking you out on a date next Saturday?" She says yes. It wasn't for the satiurday of that week, but the one of the next (two days from now). Over the last two weeks we've spoken and confirmed three times that she'd be free this Saturday. However, when I ask her two days ago what time she wants me to pick her up on sat, she says "oh I can't, I'm busy every satuday." Like bro she said three times she was free. then she says apparently she thought we agreed sunday, even though we'd established Saturday many times. We haven't spoken these last two days after a small frustration at each other. Today I sent to her "Hey I don't like the way we ended off the other day. You know I'm respecting of your schedule but I felt a bit rejected when you said you were busy this Saturday since we established that you were free a few times, as well because I felt special that you had made time in your busy week for me. I still ;like you and want to give it another try if you still do."
I've been left on delivered for 14 hours, which is unusual. Obviously she doesn't;t want to talk to me, but I don't think I've done anything wrong. She is the one who gave me misinformation and tried to make an excuse afterwards. I've spoken to friends about this, but would like your opinions too.

2023.06.01 14:14 MolokoBespoko Following an old interview I recently came across with Rose West’s son, Stephen (who corroborated that his mother *was* friends with Myra Hindley) - I’ve rewritten my old write-up around it just for the sake of re-stating that there is absolutely no evidence of any romantic or sexual relationship.
If you’re one of the fortunate few who is unaware of this, essentially, the rumours go that Hindley and fellow serial killer West had a brief ‘fling’ at Durham in 1995, then broke it off and became enemies over who was more famous. When this story “first” broke in 2019, the context was that West’s lawyer, Leo Goatley, had written the following about their “short-lived dalliance” in a book about Fred and Rose West:
- The friendships [at Durham] were genuinely supportive and often sexual. They could also be unstable and end in resentment. Rose’s first paramour was the Moors murderer, Myra Hindley, who happened to be on the hospital wing at HMP Durham at the same time in 1995 and early 1996. Hindley was there because she had ‘fallen over’ in the exercise yard of ‘F’ Wing. It was prison policy that a new inmate who was a lifer would first be assessed on the prison wing. This assessment entailed psychiatric and psychological examination, as well as a physical check-up. Rose remained on the hospital wing for about a fortnight. Myra Hindley had already been in hospital for a couple of weeks.
- Rose explained to me that Myra’s bones had become brittle and that because of the diagnosis of osteoporosis, the slightest impact could result in a fracture. Hindley had said that the condition was aggravated by reason that for years she was served leftover wartime rations of powdered egg and milk with the prison food. It sounded plausible at the time. Visiting at the time, I recall that Rose was quite taken with Hindley, impressed by her knowledge and ability. Rose said that Hindley had studied various Open University courses. Her comments were slightly cryptic and cautious, which was a tendency with Rose that I had noted on many occasions. It had made getting express instructions on particular issues sometimes difficult.
- She said, “Yeah, Myra, she’s all right, we get on, I want to see how it goes.”
- This was a reference to a flowering, albeit short-lived, lesbian relationship.
- After Rose was moved off the hospital wing, Hindley remained in there for a week or so longer before going back to her cell on ‘F’ wing. At the time, the prison regime on the female wing had a policy of open association. This meant that during the day, the cell doors remained open and the prisoners could come and go within the confines of the wing.
- […]
- When I visited a few months later, Rose’s opinion of Hindley had changed dramatically. She was saying, “You have to watch Hindley, mind. She is very manipulative. You don’t realise it, but she gets you doing stuff for her. Oh, she’s clever, all right. She’s flippin’ dangerous, that one. She ain’t going to take me for a cunt again.” And so heralded the end of the romance. I did wonder whether Hindley had had earlier dalliances that had not gone well and accounted for her ‘falling over’ in the exercise yard, which by all accounts happened with some frequency? Hindley’s plausibility and persuasiveness had, at an early stage in the investigation, been flagged up to me [through Lord Longford, who campaigned voraciously for her parole.]
- […]
- I was aware of Rose’s preference for women. Her lesbian tendencies were well-documented throughout the case. There is a strange parallel between the way she was ultra-critical of her daughter Heather [one of her murder victims] for supposedly being lesbian, and yet she freely, and with Fred’s blessing, regularly indulged in lesbian relationships. And here in prison, Rose was and is known to have a succession of women lovers, yet, apart from Myra Hindley, she never mentioned any of these to me in her correspondence? If there were pen pal lesbian romances, she chose not to disclose those to me.
The rumours next became headline news in 2020, due to the release of a Trevor MacDonald documentary and a book by Linda Calvey (who was convicted of murdering her lover and since her release, has enjoyed both fame and infamy as a crime writer and “black widow” killer). Calvey writes:
* [Rose] and Myra became friends immediately, as most people kept away from them both. One day they were sitting on the landing at a little table with a red-and-white checked cloth, when a screw sidled up to me, saying, “I bet you’d like a camera to take a picture of that.”
* I nodded. Rose and Myra were eating together, chatting away as if they’d known each other for ages. Myra was wearing a brightly coloured kaftan, flowing around her, and had violently dyed red hair, while Rose looked like a small, oversized librarian opposite her. Myra smoked and so she always smelled of ciggies, and her voice, once a soft northern burr, was now gruff and throaty.
* Only a few weeks after Rose arrived, their bizarre friendship ended as quickly as it began. One day they didn’t sit together, and I never saw them speak after that.
I haven’t seen the Trevor MacDonald thing (which I know a lot of people have, so I’d be interested to hear if any of you have any more accounts from that). I pulled as much info as I could from articles, which includes Hindley supposedly telling Calvey (after she mentioned that she thought it was weird that she and West had stopped talking to each other); “She killed her own children. Do I really want to mix with somebody like that?”
Calvey recalled: “They'd go into each others cells and they became really, really close, and I think the majority of the wing all thought there was an affair of sorts going on between them. Everybody went ‘What a weird combination, they've become thick as thieves’.”
“It was really weird that they suddenly became best friends. They were with each other all the time, they had their breakfast together, they'd sit and have their tea. […] They became really, really close for about six weeks, and as quick as it started, it just ended. It stopped and they just weren't even speaking to each other.”
Criminal psychologist David Canter has speculated: “Early on West would've [as an aside, I guess the key word here is “would’ve”] looked to Hindley for help, so she would've used sex to get what she wanted. Hindley would've been aware of that and she potentially could've used West to her own advantage.”
I didn’t know until today, when I was poring over archival newspapers, that this story first broke on 7th May 1995 in the Sunday Mirror, and then it actually became a cover story in the Daily Mail on 23rd November 1995 - the day after West was convicted of multiple murders, at that. (Like… all of the horrific and concrete details of the Wests’ murders, and you immediately turn your front page into yet another excuse to add fuel to the dumpster fire.) Following the Daily Mail was The Evening Standard, The Mirror and other tabloids - all alleging that Hindley and West had become “friends”.
According to the Daily Mail - the article titled "Hand in hand with Hindley" - “the two most evil women in Britain - both openly bisexual - have been seen holding hands in Durham Prison. They were drawn together by shared religion, and the 51-year-old Moors Murderess became West's confidante and adviser. They have made unsupervised visits to each other's cell, and prayed together in the jail chapel. Hindley even sent a 'Good Luck' card before the start of the 31-day trial at Winchester Crown Court which has appalled the nation.” Another Mail article, written a day later, repeated the story and claimed that the two “have spent hours unsupervised in one another’s cells cooking snacks for one another and watching TV. […] Hindley is said to have helped protect her from jail bullies who taunt her and anyone who associates with her”.
Hindley responded to the Daily Mail stories in a hand-written statement to The Independent, and took the issue up with the Press Complaints Commission. Here are a couple of extracts I have picked out:
* If this article is providing some light relief and entertainment at my expense from the heaviness of the Gloucester trial, it isn't only, yet again, disseminating yet another strand of fabricated garbage to weave into myth, it is also causing acute distress to my mother and family, who had to cope with the headline horrors of following my own trial and who have had little respite from them since.
* […]
* I will be refuting claims that Rosemary West and myself have formed a “macabre" friendship, that we have ever held hands, prayed together in the chapel or anywhere else, cooked snacks for each other, watched television together in each other's cells and that I sent her a "Good Luck' card before the start of the trial or at any other time. Nor was I "fascinated" by her when she arrived on H-wing. She was on H-wing before I arrived and was just one of 44 immates.
* Whoever these “prison sources” are who made these “revelations” to the Mail and other papers, it is obvious to me that they received money for this “information” and it is yet another example of cheque book journalism.
* If not, it is just another opportunity to drag my name into the headlines to boost circulation.
In the same Independent story, a “source” with access to the wing stated that “when there are only 44 people in a confined space, it is inevitable that almost everyone will spend some time with everyone else at some point. I'm sure Hindley has spoken to West but there is no special relationship”.
Rose and Fred West’s adult son, Stephen West, gave a taped interview on the matter in 1996 for which he received no payment. He corroborated the Mail's account, recalling that his mother told him how the two women formed a friendship in jail, talking a lot and spending time together and how Hindley sent a 'Good Luck' card before West's trial.
“Mum mentioned Myra sending her a card of some sort. Whether it had been bought in or whether Myra had made it, I ain't sure, but she had sent her a good luck card and basically just wrote ‘Good Luck’ in it. When Mum was found guilty of all the murders, she went back to Durham Jail on the hospital wing, where Myra Hindley was after after falling and breaking her pelvis or hip or something.”
He also recalled her telling him how the pair prayed together in the prison chapel and watched TV together, and how they made soft toys together which were sent to West's newborn grandchild.
“There were times when they would see each other, being on the same wing together
- H wing. It sticks in my mind that they had been together in the chapel. They had begun to talk and form a friendship, they were making toys together and things like that. I know they watched TV together, because I know Mum mentioned she was sat there and something came on about Mum on the news and she felt funny being next to Myra while she was watching it.”
He said his mother had told him and his sister Mae that the pair were friends and still spend a lot of time together: “Mum and Myra had made some soft toys and it was sent to Mae's little 'un when it was born.”
The Mail's original story was based on information from four reputable but confidential sources who could not be named, and therefore could not testify. I will also add to that that Stephen never once alluded to his mother and Hindley being romantically or sexually involved - I don’t think he has commented on it since (I’ll continue to look, though) and I doubt Rose West herself will ever talk about it.
The PCC adjudication declared that because of this they “reluctantly” had to uphold the initial complaint from Hindley back in 1995, since she had been supported by a statement from a deputy governor of the prison. It added that the Mail had acted in good faith'. The file was reopened and in the end, Hindley’s initial complaint was not pursued - not because they deemed Stephen West’s story to be true, but because there had been considerable delays from Hindley’s legal team which meant that they failed to meet deadlines set by the commission.
Another source - possibly the deputy governor of Durham at the time - claimed that the reports of Hindley’s and West’s alleged friendship was “completely untrue”, and another “jail insider” told the People (in an article published 24th March 1996):
* There were a lot of reports at the start that said Rose had hit it off with Myra Hindley. But that's absolute nonsense. For a start, Hindley is in the hospital section with the brittle bone disease osteoporosis. She wants nothing to do with Rose - and regards her with contempt. Her view is that she is very much intellectually inferior to her.
To back that last point up, in that same article either the same or another source was quoted as saying: “Hindley is in a lot of pain because of her condition and is worried she will never be able to have sex again.”
Hope that clears everything up, as this is pretty much all of the information I have managed to find around it (at least so far - I accidentally came across Stephen’s interview when I was looking for another Daily Mail article on the case). I guess people are entitled to believe whatever they want to believe about these rumours. I think they were probably amiable in some capacity, but I highly doubt they were lovers - as I say, that’s just my opinion. I don’t know too much about the West case, and the only thing I know about Stephen is that he was eventually convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old girl, so 😖 no further comment on it all I hope

2023.06.01 14:14 Htown_Flyer Stats on Frontier's flight network, GWP strategies
I found this article a few days ago and have been pondering different ways the information might influence my future GoWild trip destinations or itineraries.
Inside Frontier: The Airline's Top Airports And Routes https://simpleflying.com/frontier-top-airlines-routes/ What are your observations?
Example 1: My two home city airports have a combined total of about 130 flights per month, increasing to 150+ on June 18 when 3x per week flights to two new destinations are added. That's about half of the #10 busiest Frontier city. I'm now even more envious of GWP holders who are based in one the Frontier hub cities.
Example 2: The list of frontier routes that exceed 3x per day is attractive from the perspective of those city pairs having the least intinerary disruption / stranding risk in the event of a flight cancellation or severe delay. (Also, for elite members, those routes are attractive for either a same-day flight change or standby flight options in the event of either Frontier IRROPS or a personal schedule change.)
Some excerpts from the article follow.
Although the data is over a year old. I still think the information is generally accurate. According to this list,
https://www.planespotters.net/airline/Frontier-Airlines , Frontier's fleet has grown from 115 to 128 planes in that time, +11%. That probably isn't enough to move these lists around much. Seasonal flight changes might have some influence, too, e.g. the MCO-SJU and DEN-PHX routes seen below might drop from 3X to 2x per day in the summer.
Leading airports list (flights per month) - Orlando: approximately 1,660 departures by Frontier in February 2022
- Denver: 1,360
- Las Vegas: 1,174
- Philadelphia: 608
- Tampa: 447
- Atlanta: 437
- Miami: 432
- Fort Myers: 380
- Phoenix: 346
- Cleveland: 319
Columbus to Cancun...operates
twice-weekly, one departure less than the median frequency of the [Frontier's] whole network. ...s
ome 26 routes are served twice-daily or more, with those above two a day shown below: - Orlando to Philadelphia
- Denver to Las Vegas
- Cleveland to Orlando
- Denver to Washington National
- Orlando to San Juan
- Denver to Phoenix

2023.06.01 14:13 Phoen1cian How to I get Epic items to max stats?
Am I doing something wrong here? I’ve reforged an item over 30 times and spent all my currency (I had a lot!) and still can’t get a near perfect stats that I want. However, I keep seeing players posting on this sub with all their epics maxed out (or just 0.1% less than max). Was that all by pure luck or is there something I’m missing out?

2023.06.01 14:13 Measter2-0 38 [M4F]: Tired of the rat race. Moving to Central America at the end of the year. Wanna tag along?
Hello r4r. I know how wild this sounds but I'm putting this out into the universe and seeing what happens!
So yeah. I'm embracing a new chapter in my life and relocating to Central America for a slower, more laid-back lifestyle. My family owns two properties there and a few years ago asked if I was interested in managing them. I’ve ruminated on this for too many years now and have decided to go for it. I’ve vacationed there for many years so it is not going to be a culture shock. I vibe much better with the slower, more laid-back lifestyle of the Caribbean.
I’ve never been in debt. Never married, but I was engaged once. I have no desire to have kids. If I have no ties to Canada then why am I still living here? My family will continue to visit from time to time, and I can always hop on a plane if I really feel home sick.
So who am I looking for? Well someone like me I guess. Someone who's also tired of the rat race. Someone independent, and looking for an equal partner to share an adventure with. Someone who values genuine connections over tiktok. Someone easy going and knows how to laugh.
A bit more about me. I grew up playing video games and will likely always play them. In the summer, I enjoy hiking, camping, and mountain biking, while during the winter, I catch up on anime, books, and movies. I’ve always valued my independence. I can cook, clean, and sew. I try to repair things before I throw them away.
While I'm still in Canada for the time being, I'm open to a long-distance relationship with the intention of eventually moving to Belize. In the future with a partner in Belize, I see us taking it easy and living a life of peace and contentment. Enjoying delicious food, friendly people. There’s as much or as little as you want to do. Mainly, I just want to live a quiet, laid-back existence and enjoy being alive.
I'm very excited to embark on this new chapter in my life. Let's chat and see if we're a good match. Ask me absolutely anything. Who knows? Maybe we'll end up on a beach in Belize, sipping on a cold drink and watching the sunset together.

2023.06.01 14:13 cop_ying Weird periods freaking me out
My periods have been weird since getting older, they never seem on track and change from time to time. I’ll bleed heavy and seems like this month it’s was heavy one day then light and barely nothing. I started on the 30rd on may and it’s the 1st of June, yesterday it was super heavy and today it’s like it’s barely there? I was having awful cramps then today, it’s nothing. (Just a note, I’m not on birth control. Also I’m lesbian so there’s no factor of being pregnant😅) it’s just stressed me out that it’s being weird lol maybe I’m just causing myself to have too much stress about it and making myself freak out over nothing.

2023.06.01 14:13 ThrowRAaakin 20M Intense abdominal pain for 24h, "left-over" muscle pain for a few days
Hello. I've had a weird experience for the third time now. The first time it happened was january 2022, the next time was around november 2022 and now it happened again. The symptoms are pretty basic : very intense abdominal pain that prevent me from doing literally anything. I have to remain in bed or in a couch, with my knees up to relieve the pain a little bit. The pain starts as some sort of cramps, where you'd think you have to go to the toilet and it's gonna be gone in 10 minutes. But it doesn't go away. It remains for about an hour where I realize what's happening, but I can still walk. After that ensues what I would describe as some of the most intense pain I've ever felt. I can't move and need someone to assist me to slightly change my position. It lasts for about 16 hours, where all I can do is try to calm down and not jump out of the window. After that, there is a time period of about 12 hours where I can function somewhat normally again, but feel pain to my abdominal muscles (walking, lifting my leg etc are painful moves). The other two times I've had it, I had a pain that was left over at the same location for a few days, slightly going away. After a week, everything was back to normal. I can't tell for sure if it is going to be the same again this time, but I'm pretty confident it will. I am very sure it is the same thing that happened twice before. If I had to describe the pain, I would say it's all over my intestines, and comes in waves. One minute you can handle it, the other you feel like you're about to explode from the inside. It felt like my intestines were getting inflated with air and that none of it could come out. I thought of UTIs but I have no symptoms of that. I thought of appendicite (not sure if that is the english term, sorry), but getting that condition three times does not feel right. It's also not exactly located in that region. I've thought of intestine occlusion, but I can still go to the toilet normally during the entire time span. I've checked my physician but he could not determine what it is. We made a blood test which didn't give any result. Is there anybody that has any idea what it could be ? Or if it looks like anything you've seen/had before ? Thanks in advance.

2023.06.01 14:12 ThrowRANencel My (23M) friend (26M) has been having some very questionable behavior and I think his gf (30F) should know
Basically a friend I have known for about a year has started dating one of the best friends of my girlfriend after knowing each other for barely a month.
In that time I have come to known some of his dirty laundry and is kind of worrying in my opinion, which is the reason why I have been trying to avoid him in the last months. The dirty laundry in question:
— He tried to date a 14yo, not only that but he has been obsessing over her for the last 3-4 years, has told me plenty of times that she is the perfect person for him and one of the only two he has ever loved, and never once mentioned age to be a problem, just that she wasnt into him.
—His friend group (all online friends) has actually dated some 13yo-14yo girls (they are all on their 25+) and has been involved in plenty of cheating. He has always known about that but he is still best buds with them and has never condoned their actions.
—Has at least one secret secondary account on Twitter dedicated exclusively to obsessively share porn about his favorite anime characters, most of which have a very questionable age.
This would be his first relationship and has no friends in real life. Usually, I wouldnt meddle into someone else's relationship but this time I felt like If I was the girl I'd deserve to know all of this things before deciding to date him, because some of them might be outright illegal.
I want to tell her because at this point im just repulsed by the guy but I dont know exactly how, and I dont know If I have the right to do so, and at the same time, even though I dont appreciate the guy anymore I pity him and I fear that doing so would ruin his reputation.
How would you guys handle the situation If you think I should do anything at all?
I must also say that I have already confronted my "friend" in the past about this things and he is unrepentant about them and doesnt see any wrong.
TLDR!; My friend has been involved in some very questionable things that I think his new girlfriend would like to know and I dont know how to handle the situation.

2023.06.01 14:12 ExecrablePiety1 Noticing a Pattern with the 4 main areas in this game.
I've been noticing as I've been playing that, at least when you arrive, the 4 main areas of the map where the beasts originally were in BotW. They seem to have been stripped of what makes them unique.
For example, The Zora Domain was all about water, but the water's all full of sludge so you can't swim much.
Eldin is supposed to be a fire/lava based area, but has since cooled down, so it's apparently not anymore.
And Hebra was all about being a village in the sky, but has since moved to the ground because of the cold snap.
As for Gerudo Valley, I haven't gotten there yet, but I'm expecting something similar where there's no more desert or something along those lines.
I'm not saying these are bad things at all. Kind of disappointing at times, I'll admit. Like making my way all the way to the Zora Domain just to find I can't really ride the river to go fishing anymore. But that's the point of a sequel, isn't it? You don't just wanna be doing the same things again.
I'm only just hitting up the towers now to unlock the whole map. So I haven't gone into the story very much. But I'm fully expecting these areas to go back to normal after I probably complete some sort of dungeon and kill a boss. Like in BotW how the rain in Zora Domain stops, etc. So I'm not too worried about not being able to enjoy these areas to their fullest. It's the sort of game where it doesn't just spoonfeed you cool things all the time, but makes you work for some of the fun stuff, like unfettered exploration of the entire map.
I just wanted to point this out because it was an interesting pattern that I had noticed. I know BotW sort of had that, where you couldn't explore the areas fully because of the rain making things slippery, or that camel zapping you with its lightning ray of death =3.
Maybe it was just me, but I enjoyed the environments almost as much as the gameplay itself. Bombing around Laurelin village, it's relaxing to explore a tropical paradise type place. Maybe I'm corny for enjoying scenery in video games. But that's just me. Heck, in GTA V I'd always go to the top of Mount Shasta to watch the sun set over the city whenever I could.

2023.06.01 14:12 Pyro4444 How to come out to everyone?
Hey y’all, I started HRT roughly 8 months ago and toros myself I would take these first 8ish months to let HRT work then come out after graduation when I wouldn’t have to be in class with a bunch of people who know the old me, and since I was moving halfway across the country to start my career and wanted all the people I met there to know the real me.
Anyway fast forward 8 months and we’re a few weeks past graduation. I’ve got a fem hair cut, eyebrows done, the start of a fem wardrobe and basic makeup skills. I’m starting to see her in the mirror on a semi-regular basis.
So I’ve reached the point where I’m going full time. So far I’ve only come out to my ex/best friend and my parents outside of all the medical professionals. I guess I want to ask how to come out, do I pick friends who I come out over the phone, talk to family members, then make a big Facebook post, what do I say, etc, etc.
I’d appreciate any advice you girls got as I want to just be the real me but am a little unsure in how to navigate this stage of transitioning…
