Been in customer facing type roles my entire working life (from corner convenience store at 16 whilst in sixth form, 7 years in supermarket on checkouts/self service/customer service desk etc, 4 years in car insurance call centre, 3 months as hotel night porteday receptionist, and currently 7 months into working for a multi-service providing company doing shoe repairs, key cutting etc). Longest period of unemployment was 3 months between the call centre and hotel, otherwise I've pretty much gone from one job to the next.
Despite having stayed in customer facing line of work for so long, I've finally got to the point where I'm realising that I hate working with the general public. Could also have something to do with my potentially being on the Austism Spectrum (can't get diagnosed as I don't meet local NHS criteria for starting investigation process and don't have enough £££ to go private)
Whilst at the call centre I had 2 mental breakdowns (around 5 months total out of work across the two periods), due to anxiety and general burnout. And I'm at the point in my current job where although my anxiety is manageable/barely a thing, I'm definitely reaching high levels of burnout and mental exhaustion.
Thing is, I don't know what sort of area(s) to look for alternative jobs. I love the idea of doing something with some level of technical aspect (probably what kept me in the insurance call centre so long - it's not just as straight forward as paying money to a company so they can pay it back in the event of a crash!). Always been fascinated by watching videos of manufacturing processes - but my current job has re-enforced how bad I am at actually using machinery (or it could just be the lack of quality training provided? IDK)
I live on the south coast, where our major industries are hospitality/tourism and (with an older-than-average population) healthcare. Neither of which appeal to me.
Never went to Uni as I couldn't decide what to study, so highest level of education is A Level.
I like having challenges of tasks (occasionally, and within reason), but dislike extreme pressure of things like deadlines and sales targets as I tend to take it too personally when I don't meet them.
General interests of mine are crafts (knitting, crochet, cross stitch), fishing, being outdoors, research "for fun" (aka finding random topics to read up on/watch documentaries about... couldn't see myself doing this as a job though).
So yeah... really having difficulty trying to figure out what sort of jobs to look into. Although my current job is considered "skilled work" the training I've been given has been less than adequate so don't feel I have "skills". Can't see myself enjoying something like minimum-wage physical labour (line production, refuse loading, cleaning etc) but at this stage feel it's probably all that I'm good for.

What are my options for home charging in a rental property?
I'm moving to the bay area in the fall and will need a personal vehicle for the first time in nearly a decade. I'd love to shift to an EV (thinking about a polestar), but since I'll be renting my home I was wondering if there are options for home charging that don't require improving someone else's property? Even if the charging is slower, I think not having a home charge option will be anxiety inducing.
Appreciate anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Clearly medical professionals have more sound info, but rather than burn the online community to the ground, how about we explore opinions here a bit.

This is a whole mess of a story, but I’m going to try my best to make it cohesive. For some background, my half brother is 33. His gf/fiancée is 23. I am 25.
My brother is a grade-a psychopath. He will use you until there is nothing left and then throw you to the side. He is on domestic violence registry, sex offender registries, public databases in three states warning of violent crimes. All this to say, he’s a bad dude. I haven’t spoken to him in almost five years because my entire family had to disown him. His additions were getting out of hand and his theft was starting to affect all of us. The last straw was when he attacked my parents because they wouldn’t let him move back in. He didn’t want help, he wanted enablers.
My mom passed away a few months ago. It was the first time I’d spoken to him since the events mentioned above. I found out he has a girlfriend who has full intentions to marry him. Their wedding is set for October. It freaked me out that this woman is ten years younger than him, but that’s neither here nor there. I met her at my mom’s funeral and when we had a second alone, I told her to not marry him. That he is violent and unpredictable. That he has two children he’s never met. He’s manipulative and scary when he’s angry. He’s stalked women, he’s broken into their homes and destroyed all of their stuff after they broke up. That he’s violated so many restraining orders because he takes them as a challenge.
She said he’s changed. That she wouldn’t tolerate that kind of behavior. I sighed, but moved on. I tried to warn her just like I had tried to warn the past three women that he’s dated. Rose colored glasses and all that.
When I told my stepdad and his mom, they had different opinions. My step dad said it wasn’t really fair to bring all that up at our mom’s funeral because maybe my brother had changed. He is over 30 now and we hadn’t talked to him for years. He said it was kind of an asshole thing to do. My grandma disagrees and thinks it’s only fair she know what she’s getting into.
I recently found out the woman’s is having a baby girl. She is very excited and I’m happy for her, but I’m worried. My brother hasn’t been been charged with any crimes against children, but I know he’s committed them. I very purposefully made myself the “child watcher” for kids at family functions so he never had the chance to be alone with anyone. Even at my mom’s own funeral, I played with the kids out back almost the whole time so I could keep an eye on them. Because of this, I again warned the woman to please be careful. That her daughter needs to be first priority and if ANYTHING fishy happens, please leave.
I brought this convo up to my stepdad and he said the same thing—that I’m going too far, that I worry too much, that I’m not giving him the chance to change.
It’s a sticky fucking situation and idk what to do, but am I going too far? Am I the asshole? I just don’t want to see anyone else get hurt.

We need to pickup a small amount of laptops for some of our sales staff. We are talking maybe 3-5. I've been researching several options from Lenovo, Dell, and now Samsung.
As of right now, the Samsung Book3 Pro looks like the biggest bang for the buck. For about the same price as 11th and 12th gen laptops from Lenovo and Dell, I can get a 13th gen EVO laptop from Samsung with a better screen and webcam (they'll be using webcam quite a bit).
I will say, I do personally own a Book3 for home use and really like it but it does come with a ton of Samsung bloat. But, that's nothing a reimaging can't fix.
Has anyone delt with Samsung business, particularly their laptops, in their environment? If so, what has your experience been? Reliability, warranty replacement, support, etc...

Hey guys, I pre-ordered on March 17th. I have all the paper trails and I clicked on Diablo for this morning to make sure that everything was all updated for tonight when I get home from work. And it says that I have not pre-ordered or was canceled.
I got an email around March 22nd saying that I would be charged within the next 10 days or so. I looked back at my transactions and March nothing, I looked back this past week nothing. Is anyone else had this issue? Or is there something I'm missing? Thanks

In order to keep things simple for my family, I'd like them to be able to leave their VPNs on all the time, even when connected to our home wifi (where the VPN server is located).
Wireguard running on a VM with PiVPN. Works perfectly from outside of our home network. We connect to a DDNS name that is pointed at the DHCP IP that my ISP provides.
When at home, on our wifi, the VPN client receives no data, and no websites load.
If I change the client from:
Endpoint = dynamic.dns.com:51820
to
Endpoint = 192.168.1.20:51820
Then the VPN works normally.
Is it possible to have multiple endpoints in the client, or is this a problem a NAT issue on my home router?

Between 14 and 16,, I threw myself into religion.
At home, I was living in a nightmare. All types of abuse. To give you an idea: 1. Mother threatened to invite her friend who had drugged and rd me at 14 yrs old over and leave, leaving them alone and locked in our room, because she hadn't done the dishes or something minor like . 2. Mother used and sold drugs, and people were constantly in and out. SA was normalized, something to be expected. My sister's and I were targets for grooming, mst*g, etc. 3. Older brother (5years older) to kill me bc I locked myself in the bathroom bc I didn't want to have sx with his friend (I was 12). He broke in the bathroom and was choking me out. His friend stopped him, and they left the house. 4. There was no access to Mother didn't work, but got food stamps. She would buy the things she liked, sell the rest for cash, and keep her stuff locked in her room. We were not allowed in there. Little sister and I would make what we could with whatever we could scrounge up. We would walk to a nearby grocery store and steal as little as possible. Like, a box of plain elbow pasta. We would take it home and make it last days as a soup. Save bits from breakfast and lunch to take home and feed our younger brother so he could have something in his belly even if we didn't. 5. Once we were able to get jobs, our checks would be confiscated. One of my jobs was under the table, so I would pull 10 or 20 or whatever I could get that wouldn't be noticed, and hide it in the pockets of clothes that didn't fit anymore that were in my closet. Things eased up when I was able to spend a few dollars a week on food. 6. We'd been in and out of foster care for years before this. Horror stories there. We were heavily manipulated and gaslit. I found out years later that my teachers and principal and friends parents had been making dhs calls, but i guess dhs had given up on us.
I can go on for days. This was nonstop, years of this. I was messed up. I ended up with different little types of s** hing behaviors. I was screaming inside, forced to act normal. I had to let out some of the pressure. At the time, I didn't know the difference between s h*** and attempted s******. All I knew was that I was hurting, desperate, and my world was constantly on fire.
There was a particularly bad summer when I was 14. No food at all. Someone invited me to Wednesday youth church. They would eat, then separate out into age groups and have services. I went. That first Wednesday, I ate, then ran to the restroom. It had been over a week since I'd had anything at all. And the last I'd eaten had been a few bites of the elbow soup. This big serving of lasagna with toast had been too much. I lost it all. I was so upset, I was in the stall crying. Two of my friends came in to check on me. TELL ME WHY I tried to play it off as an eating disorder. Great. Now everyone thinks I have an eating disorder.
We moved on to services. All these people had been so nice and welcoming. I met the youth pastor, brother j. He was goofy and playful and so full of light. He really cared about all the people there. The whole atmosphere, and the was that brother j and some of the teens shone with this absolute certainty... It made me want to believe too. Just thinking about this next sentence makes me cry, still to this day. I tried so had to believe, and worked so hard to play the part, and I never succeeded. I mean, I even started a bible study at lunch at school. Faker, liar.
One of the women whose son was in the youth group saved me a plate. As everyone separated out to go home, she gave me a wrapped plate. I walked home (on the other end of town) and my younger siblings ate. I started keeping ziplocs in my pockets. I brought whatever I could home. I tried to shine like everyone else.
One day, I was out of clean (or clean enough) longer shorts. I wore the longest thing I could, and just told myself I'd make sure I kept them pulled down as much as possible. Inevitably, another kid noticed cuts at the tops of my thighs and told someone. Brother j asked me, and I told part of the truth. Sometimes, I want to hurt myself. He talked to me about it, was there for me, and he gave me his phone number. Told me to call at any hour if I needed someone to talk to or felt like hurting myself.
I'd collected all kinds of little razors. The bigger ones, like for box cutters. The smaller ones you can get from wedging a butter knife between the blades of a shaving razor. I kept them in my closet.
After a particularly bad incident (older sis' baby daddy coming into my room and dry humping me, trying to coerce me into letting him do stuff to me) I was fed up. All anyone wanted from me was to use me. I wanted to get my hidden treasures out and dig in deeper than I'd ever gone. I wanted to not be around any more. I texted that number, too ashamed to call. Ten minutes later, brother j is outside. He talks to me, and I hand the razors. There were a couple of incidents similar, and he was always there when I needed someone.
Brother j never treated me like an inconvenience. He never acted inappropriately. He cared. He was there for me when I had nobody. He went out of his way to help in every way he could.
I wish I could say that my behaviors stopped. They didn't, but I found less harmful and dangerous versions. I didn't want to die. And when I couldn't take any more of the hell at home, I didn't give up. And when I had severe PPD ten years later, I didn't give up. And when the world was against me, I didn't give up. Because someone, so long ago, made sure I knew that, whether I believed it or not, people WOULD care if I wasn't here any more.
I'm not magically okay. I'm very mentally unstable. I have so much trauma built up, I've blanked out months from my memory. But I'm alive. And I know for a fact, if that kindness hadn't found me, I wouldn't be.

She would buy the things she liked, sell the rest for cash, and keep her stuff locked in her room. We were not allowed in there. Little sister and I would make what we could with whatever we could scrounge up. We would walk to a nearby grocery store and steal as little as possible. Like, a box of plain elbow pasta. We would take it home and make it last days as a soup. Save bits from breakfast and lunch to take home and feed our younger brother so he could have something in his belly even if we didn't. 5. Once we were able to get jobs, our checks would be confiscated. One of my jobs was under the table, so I would pull 10 or 20 or whatever I could get that wouldn't be noticed, and hide it in the pockets of clothes that didn't fit anymore that were in my closet. Things eased up when I was able to spend a few dollars a week on food. 6. We'd been in and out of foster care for years before this. Horror stories there. We were heavily manipulated and gaslit. I found out years later that my teachers and principal and friends parents had been making dhs calls, but i guess dhs had given up on us.
I can go on for days. This was nonstop, years of this. I was messed up. I ended up with different little types of s** hing behaviors. I was screaming inside, forced to act normal. I had to let out some of the pressure. At the time, I didn't know the difference between s h*** and attempted s******. All I knew was that I was hurting, desperate, and my world was constantly on fire.
There was a particularly bad summer when I was 14. No food at all. Someone invited me to Wednesday youth church. They would eat, then separate out into age groups and have services. I went. That first Wednesday, I ate, then ran to the restroom. It had been over a week since I'd had anything at all. And the last I'd eaten had been a few bites of the elbow soup. This big serving of lasagna with toast had been too much. I lost it all. I was so upset, I was in the stall crying. Two of my friends came in to check on me. TELL ME WHY I tried to play it off as an eating disorder. Great. Now everyone thinks I have an eating disorder.
We moved on to services. All these people had been so nice and welcoming. I met the youth pastor, brother j. He was goofy and playful and so full of light. He really cared about all the people there. The whole atmosphere, and the was that brother j and some of the teens shone with this absolute certainty... It made me want to believe too. Just thinking about this next sentence makes me cry, still to this day. I tried so had to believe, and worked so hard to play the part, and I never succeeded. I mean, I even started a bible study at lunch at school. Faker, liar.
One of the women whose son was in the youth group saved me a plate. As everyone separated out to go home, she gave me a wrapped plate. I walked home (on the other end of town) and my younger siblings ate. I started keeping ziplocs in my pockets. I brought whatever I could home. I tried to shine like everyone else.
One day, I was out of clean (or clean enough) longer shorts. I wore the longest thing I could, and just told myself I'd make sure I kept them pulled down as much as possible. Inevitably, another kid noticed cuts at the tops of my thighs and told someone. Brother j asked me, and I told part of the truth. Sometimes, I want to hurt myself. He talked to me about it, was there for me, and he gave me his phone number. Told me to call at any hour if I needed someone to talk to or felt like hurting myself.
I'd collected all kinds of little razors. The bigger ones, like for box cutters. The smaller ones you can get from wedging a butter knife between the blades of a shaving razor. I kept them in my closet.
After a particularly bad incident (older sis' baby daddy coming into my room and dry humping me, trying to coerce me into letting him do stuff to me) I was fed up. All anyone wanted from me was to use me. I wanted to get my hidden treasures out and dig in deeper than I'd ever gone. I wanted to not be around any more. I texted that number, too ashamed to call. Ten minutes later, brother j is outside. He talks to me, and I hand the razors. There were a couple of incidents similar, and he was always there when I needed someone.
Brother j never treated me like an inconvenience. He never acted inappropriately. He cared. He was there for me when I had nobody. He went out of his way to help in every way he could.
I wish I could say that my behaviors stopped. They didn't, but I found less harmful and dangerous versions. I didn't want to die. And when I couldn't take any more of the hell at home, I didn't give up. And when I had severe PPD ten years later, I didn't give up. And when the world was against me, I didn't give up. Because someone, so long ago, made sure I knew that, whether I believed it or not, people WOULD care if I wasn't here any more.
I'm not magically okay. I'm very mentally unstable. I have so much trauma built up, I've blanked out months from my memory. But I'm alive. And I know for a fact, if that kindness hadn't found me, I wouldn't be.

I apologize if there's a better place to post this but looking for some experts on which super duty is best for me. Made mistake a couple years ago of buying an F-150 and towing my 7000 lb camper. It does the job, but on the highway I feel like the camper drives the truck.
I've been looking at f-350s, however a sales guy is trying to convince me that the 250 is really all I need. I'll be going with the 7.2 engine regardless. I want to somewhat future-proof this to account for a larger camper down the road, or possibly even a gooseneck. I imagine the most I would ever pull is 10,000 pounds.
I imagine either will improve my towing experience, but I'm curious what my limits would be in a 250 over a 350.

A little flirting happens but I take it slowly. Then last weekend my buddy invites me to join him at a bar where he was with his small office team because his lead was leaving or something. My crush was there too. However, as soon as I arrive, I start chatting up this other girl from his team.
My crush notices this and comes to sit beside me. She then starts touching my arms, hands, leaning against me, etc. She tells me to come with her to the smoking zone. I tell her I don’t smoke. She grabs my wrist and pulls me there.
This smoking area had all glass walls. Everyone in the establishment could look inside. It was right next to our table too. Then she starts smoking. I stand a few feet away because I don’t like the smell. She stares into my soul and says: “I’ve been wanting to kiss you. Come closer”.
I try to negotiate with her that we can do it in the car or her room. People are looking at us through the glass. I’ve never even done PDA. I’m sweating bullets. We get out after a few minutes. My ego is through the roof ngl. My question is answered the following the evening when I visit my friend again and notice a Merc parked outside, and when I go in, her’s door is open and some rich-looking dude is just laying in her bed :/
My friend is mad jealous but I’m quite pissed frankly. She’s still trying to be friendly and talk to me, but I’ve deleted her number already. I don’t want her as my gf, but I’m afraid I’ll not have the self control to say No if she comes onto me again.
Should I just tell her I don’t want a FWB situation or whatever she’s expecting. (I’m scared of contracting STIs). Or should I just awkwardly ignore her and let her get the idea eventually. I can’t avoid her because I go to my friend’s place almost every weekend.

2023.06.01 15:28 ImpartialHawk My Apple TV (4K, 2021) briefly pauses when I stand up. Why?
Last month, I got a new TV. Went from a 'dumb' LG HDTV to a 'smart' HiSense 4K TV. Like on the old TV, my Apple TV 4K (2021 model, or 2nd Gen) is plugged into HDMI (4K 60FPS port), plugged into a wall outlet, and uses WiFi connection.
I do notice that every time I turn on the Apple TV box, I'm greeted with a blank screen that says Dolby Vision in the corner. When I go to calibrate the screen, it says it doesn't need to because of Dolby Vision. The UI is noticeably lightebrighter than it was on the HDTV. This isn't an issue, but it is relevant.
When I stand up, the Apple TV pauses, the screen goes black, and the Dolby Vision logo shows up again.
All the cables are securely attached, nothing is loose or coming loose.
I have Apple TV apps on the 'smart' part of the TV itself (which is powered by Google Home) as well as on my Xbox. Neither of them behave like this at all (nor do they say Dolby Vision when they play content). The Google Home/TV version of the Apple TV doesn't seem to be quite as nice as far as the player goes, so I prefer to watch Apple TV stuff on the Apple TV box itself.
Other information... everything's on WiFi. The only thing physically connected to my router via Ethernet is my desktop PC, because they sit together... opposite side of the room from the TV.
TV has three things hooked up to it. Apple TV and Laptop on the two 4K60 HDMI ports, and an Xbox Series X on the first of two 4K120 HDMI ports. No sound bar or any external speakers.
Nothing has a camera on it (to see me get up), except for the laptop, and I keep the lid closed. If I'm using it, I just use the mouse, and I have the on-screen keyboard pinned to the taskbar (it runs Windows 11) for the few times I need a keyboard. Or I can open it and type.
I'm guessing the best answer is a grounding issue relating to static electricity, but all the plugs are secure.

Although I’m an adult in my 40’s i live with my parents as disability payments aren’t enough. I have a scooter at home that I use as a wheelchair. It’s light weight (35 pounds) and folds up super easy to put in the car. I don’t drive, but when I’m out with my mom she always says to just use the stores scooters so we don’t have to deal with mine. We went to Costco the day before yesterday, and I used a store scooter. When we were coming out of the store there was an older gentleman waiting for a store scooter to shop as they only had 5 and they were all in use. I left him with the one I had been using. Ever since then my mom’s been very proactive about me bringing mine. It’s made things easier for me as I prefer my own scooter to the store ones.
