2023.06.01 15:02 GabianSpirit Text ideas for a wedding!

Hi everyone! So, a friend of mine is getting married, and I’m the one presiding the small lay ceremony. I am super excited (you bet) but we are in some sort of a dead end right now… For various reasons she don’t want a text from the Bible (her future husband family is Hindu and they are both afraid it will make trouble to read extract from the Bible, for they are already very pissed of that is not marrying a woman from his community). As a huge poetry lover, I submit some verses from French poets (Francois Cheng and Christian Bobin, if you can find translations they are amazing 😉) but they find that too spiritual and hermetic… Sooooo here’s my question: does anyone had an idea?? 😅 (for information the celebration will be held in French, English and Italian, so if you have ideas in one language or the other, it would be awesome!) Thanks in advance, and be blessed 🙏

The annual circumcision rate for babies born in the US state of West Virginia has plummeted to just 17.3% following "brain drain" fears. Concerned parents, worried about the growing lack of professionals able to carry out circumcisions of newborns and others "with precision and skill" have opted instead to not have their children circumcised.
One parent, Leo Manning, told NBC that he would "not be having his kid circumcised."
"I ain't having it," he said. "I'm worried that these untrained newbies could do something wrong and mutilate my little boy. My wife and I have had a chat. Our kid will keep his genitals intact and untouched, just the way God made him."
Worried about the plummeting circumcision rates in West Virginia, however, is a Charleston-based Priest, Alex Mayweather of St Matthews Episcopal Church.
"It is God's will that all male babies be cirucmcised. This is the way it is done, this is the way it has always been done and this is the way it is supposed to be. God's Word is very clear," he stated.
The Priest also added that his church "is always open to concerned parents who may have any questions."
"I myself am medically trained and certified and I am also an ordained priest. Any concerned parents in the Charleston area are more than welcome to come to St Matthews anytime."
West Virginia's circumcision rate is now amongst the lowest across the contiguous United States, with most states in the Western United States, including California and Oregon having the lowest rates. State legislatures in such states as Idaho, Montana and Wyoming are currently considering banning what are being termed "amateur circumcisions" - circumcision procedures performed by untrained individuals, sometimes at home or in unlicensed clinics which may sometimes lead to complications such as deformed or mutilated genitals.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, circumcision rates in Britain remain at an all time high, with 2022 seeing 98.9% of newborns circumcised. Only 0.7% of Britain's 50 million-strong population is Jewish, which is roughly 350,000, whilst at least 67% of Brits identify as "Christian" or "culturally Christian". 17.1% of Brits identify as "Muslim" or "strict Muslim".

2023.06.01 15:00 Saint_Waffles [Online][5e][Pacific time] looking for 1 more

[5e][Online][18+][PST] looking for players
I am recruiting 1 more player for a dnd 5e adventure in the supplement from red panda publishing called adventurers guide to the Bible.
This is obviously a game based in biblical times.
I will be running the game at 3:30 pm pacific time on Tuesday until 7:00 pacific time. I plan to stream this on my twitch so great mic is required.
I've attempted to gather people for this before and it has always failed, so I'm trying again.
Here is my requirements and what I'm looking for:
As stated great mic
I'm looking for outgoing people who know the game well enough and can do a set adventure. It won't be super open world as we are following the book to start. We may break away from it later but for now it's gonna be rail roads.
18 or older only
Classes and races will be limited to the book so it will be severe character restrictions and alignment restrictions.
Preferably looking for other Christians so we can discuss the book and what works well and doesn't work well.
I'm hoping to use owlbear rodeo as a vtt
This is the bible, so there will be some mature themes.
I'm looking for people who are going to be active. I want to discuss the game and other things in discord throughout the week. I don't want a player who will only show up for the game and nothing else.
Message me If you have questions or want to apply.
To apply just give me a small snippet of you understand what I'm looking for and how you fit in as well as who you are!

2023.06.01 14:51 ijustlikecars English-speaking in or near Porto?

Hi, my wife and I are currently in Porto and we would like to visit an English-speaking Christian church in or near Porto! We would drive up to 1 hour away if needed.
We'd really like to find a smaller church that would welcome visitors - we'd love to meet and talk to some local people! So a big church where nobody notices us would not be as ideal :)
I also saw a few churches online that only have afternoon services... We would prefer a morning service if possible, but I appreciate any reviews of afternoon churches as well.
Thanks so much for your recommendations!

2023.06.01 14:48 TheMysteriousITGuy Concerned about being responded to by other Christians

I am a Christian guy approaching my upper fifties, and my wife is near her mid-40's. We belong to a church in our area in the U.S. that is theologically Reformed and has presbyterian polity/governmental structure. A year ago, we chose to transfer our membership to another congregation in the same vicinity (the specific reasons will not be explained now and are not known specifically by many of our friends, but we are in good standing).
There have been many instances of me trying reach out electronically to friends especially in the former and other congregations in the interest of interacting with them and fostering an air of more significant and meaningful communication. But unfortunately, many of these folks are slow or neglectful to reply and may not even get back to me until after I have sent a followup message a week or more later. It is disconcerting and saddening when the recipient does not take even just 2-5 minutes as a matter of common consideration to write quickly even if to say that I can look forward to more of a response when circumstances are better. And it is not like I have been excommunicated or otherwise disfellowshipped (even if my membership had been terminated due to the need for discipline, I would find it repulsive and not Christlike to be shunned). My wife in some measure feels the same way about communications seemingly being ignored. This makes for more potential tension along with hesitancy to be in situations where these others might be present.
How many of you likewise feel like there is not as much rendering of reciprocal acknowledgement as would be fitting for a relationship founded on committed faith in common? I do not simply contact a person for my own health/ego affirmation; it is to nurture the relationship bidirectionally. Have some of you needed to lovingly confront a person who resorts to the silent treatment despite a need for two-way exchange? My intentions are honorable and above board and do not involve the slightest risk of scandal or inappropriate situations. Excuses given to justify deliberately ignoring the initial message intended as 2-way will not be helpful (unless the actual other party says that it is because of being out of range temporarily or dealing with some kind of serious and significant matter diverting attention away from me), especially when anyone should be able to offer at least a courtesy response (and if anyone tries to treat us poorly when we have been circumspect, then there is a heart issue that is unbecoming of having saving faith in Christ).
If responding, PLEASE do not offer a trite statement such as that I would not want to interact with these friends anyway because they are not good enough for me or try to accuse or judge me presumptuously or make questionable excuses that might involve inconsistent standards of treatment. No, that kind of ill-founded reflection will not work; I have known many of these folks for a long time and value my friendships with them by and large. This post has a support-based focus and I thus seek practical insight. Also, I ask that no one go on superficial or meaningless tangents but rather stay attentive to the topic at hand.
Thanks to anyone that can offer some helpful understanding/suggestions for how to try to see some improvement.

2023.06.01 14:44 Tatortot4478 Mega thread of “kenzi timeline”

Here’s the apple interview:
Summary: she has a positive Pap in 2016, had a colposcopy, got it lasered & was good to go. After four years of not getting a Pap smear, she went in in September 2020 and had a positive pap and dysplasia was found. (Definition of dysplasia: abnormal cells with the potential of becoming cancerous.) she then had a TOTAL hysterectomy. Not a radical - why is this important, because in the even of chemo and cancer the doctor will do a radical. Total is when someone cries thrower periods are bad enough. Why else is this significant? She was a military spouse - in the event of cancer tricare will only approve of specific surgeries and a radical would be approved not a total bc tricare doesn’t want to pay for 2 surgeries. (Also I’m a military spouse and had endometrial cancer too) in 2020 she had 2 rounds of chemo.
1st gofund me appears in 2020. It’s “deleted now” and the girl who organized wants nothing to do with kenzi. But kenzi husband was in the navy and they claimed they couldn’t afford her cancer treatments and she’ll die if they can pay to get her chemo. She was covered under tricare then….
Navy article:
Remember her husband was in the navy. This is proof. Tricare covered every thing. He also medically retired a few years later so family gets to keep benefits. Like health insurance! I share bc once upon a. Time she used to brag that they had money bc hubby was a “veteran” then GoFundMes happened…
01/2021 Her grandma only ever made on post about kenzi cancer journey. She’s shared a lot about her brother in laws cancer battle though. Funny if kenzi was that sick and now cancer free after being terminal she would be praising Jesus. Found this interesting….
01/2021 Kenzi mom made GoFundMe 2. It made 14,000+ at this time. Her husband was also beginning the med board process of retiring medically from the navy at this time. Regardless she stated she needed this money bc tricare and tricare for life coverage lapse and she wasn’t covered or they needed the money for something else bc they had kids and incase she died.
2021 - kenzi was using her cancer to promote her mlm scam…
01/31/2022 article Summary: “After six surgeries Paquin became cancer free…but her journey is not not over yet!”
02/16/2022 article: Summary: about being diagnosed in 2016 with cancer and doing chemo. Then doing chemo again in 2022. She only lost her hair once and would justify after her initial chemo treatment she was on “chemo pills” please look up online how terminal cancer is cured by chemo pills? Now also look that there’s no cervical cancer pills… cancer stated to have only returned to her abdomen….
02/28/2022 article Summary: kenzi is blaming the pandemic for not going to her follow up appointments and now has terminal cancer. Article also states in 2019 she only had precancerous cells removed. She had: “A hysterectomy, six surgeries and three rounds of chemotherapy and radiation later” her cancer was located in cervix, lymph nodes, abdominal wall, and lung.
03/2022 one of the gofund me bre made for kenzi and raise 5000+ kenzi claimed at this time there was a lapse when tricare covered them bc her husband retired. So she wasn’t on tricare for life benefits at this time. That’s why she needed this money.
03/03/2022 article: Summary: she then added her her husband was “retired” from the navy after her cancer came back. It was in her abdomen and lung now.
03/22/2022o Kenzi posted on her local town page about trying her new diet product she’s selling…
08/05/2022 article Summary: Kenzi’s cancer journey time line plus screen shots of her daughter saying “i don’t want you to die mommy”
Article how kenzi is preparing to die since her cancer is “terminal”
To conclude: you know she posted a lot asking for money with terminal cancer and only wanted to share awareness. You would think with terminal cancer she would be praising Jesus (bc she’s a Christian white woman) and sharing her test image to ever lose faith bc now she’s cancer free? Where are the posts about never giving up unless….. it was all a lie that it came back after her initial treatment and hysterectomy. If she only ever had dysplasia and after chemo and her hysterectomy she no longer had cancer. ;) She she did have precancerous cells…. But lied about how severe her cancer.

2023.06.01 14:44 CryptoxPathy Hey Christian, you may never see this or reply, but reddit changing their API may be a good thing, I have always wanted a new social media platform that respects privacy. And would follow you if you take up the challenge.

Ive used Apollo for a while now and am a paying customer. But with these changes, you have enough heat and support behind you if you want to take a project like this on. Its not the easy route by any means. But you could have a major influence on the landscape of social media platforms, facebook is unpopular with younger generations, twitter is loosing its grip, reddit making these API changes and clearly unfavorable changes for a while.
My only request would be to make the new social media privacy and user focused, dont make us or our data the product you sell.

2023.06.01 14:36 eunderscore As we're in the summer holidays, I decided to rank the players who had played at every squad number in my Villa supporting life.

This is simply, roughly, my preference of who I would want in the team based on those available at that number.
Many players had more than one number, so I put them in the one they appeared in most, or were most recognisable in (for instance, JG had 3 seasons as 40 or something and 3 as 7). Also, this is based on their time at the club, not their overall career.

2023.06.01 14:34 OllieMaras The strange Dog in the graveyard.

This was probably 10 years ago or longer. I was about 10 to 13 years old. We live in a different country due to the Yugoslav War but would go back every summer mostly. My sibling and i were over at a friend's house where their grandparents would always be around. They always hat stories from when they were young. But one story stands out to me today and that was the story from their grandmother.
She told when she was young she would have to go back home on foot and it was a long way to get home. That night was the same. Now I don't really remember why she left to go home that late at night it was probably some kind of festivity. Pretty usual for us Slavs.
She explained that there was a shortcut to her house that she avoided because it was a graveyard. But that night she took it because it was already very late. She told us that she entered the graveyard she felt very uneasy. She couldn't really describe how she only said "the feeling of Adrenalin when you saw something terrible pr heard it".
But she chocked it up to the situation and thought it wass because she was alone in the middle of the night in a graveyard.
(Keep in mind this is by now over 70 years ago probably so there weren't street lights on the street let alone a graveyard. So it was very dark)
She said that the only soure of light was the moon. So she couldn't see much and to almost touch her way through to get home. About halfway through home she told us that she noticed some standing right to the way of her home and as she came closer she saw a big dog. She said he was abnormally large and very long. She said the scariest part were his piercing red eyes. She said they almost glowed. He looked at her for a moment and she out of fear couldn't move. The dog left to the way she hat to go to get home and she didn't really have much of a choice to follow.
She came home that night and swore never to take that direction home.
Now this story isn't that long and probably not that "scary" I guess you could say. But what gets to me is the description of the dog. I'm really into horror stuff so that's why I know.
But tje way she described the dog is almost exactly like a Hellhound looks like from the abrahamic religions (Christianity).
She doesn't even know what a hellhound is ans she perfectly described one.
That's what's scary to me. I'm not a believer of the supernatural but it's things like these that make my skin crawl.

2023.06.01 14:23 InfallibleMonkey When boredom strikes a christian

How should christians deal with boredom? Especially the new converts who are used to occupying their restless minds with countless modern day distractions. It feels like being sober after years of alcoholism… When you try to follow the God and obey his way of living boredom starts to crawl in your mind. How do we deal with this? Especially if you are a lonely soul and don’t have many friends. Also there are no nearby orthodox communities where I currently live. Are there any lesser sinful activities which still can be maintained while growing with God? Such as gaming or watching movies etc.

Folks, it's time to dive under the sea once again. Over the last few years, Disney has recreated their top animated musical films into live-action movies. The Little Mermaid is no different, and viewers can't wait to swim into theaters to catch a glimpse of how the movie will stand up against the original version.
Walt Disney Studios has established a remarkable trend of making live-action remakes of its classic stories. One after the other, all the fairytales of the past era are being brought to life by the studio in an attempt to tell the magical stories in a new light of living characters. With the live-action Peter Pan & Wendy due out in April, Disney will continue their string of live-action remakes a month later with The Little Mermaid.
Get ready to go "under the sea!" The latest of Disney's hugely successful line of live-action remakes, Ariel (Halle Bailey) is set to return to theaters for the first time in almost thirty-five years with The Little Mermaid (2023). The Walt Disney Company once again invites audiences to travel under the sea to see Princess Ariel's story unfold like never before. Featuring direction from veteran musical filmmaker Rob Marshall and other roles inhabited by major Hollywood stars like Melissa McCarthy as Ursula the Sea Witch and Javier Bardem as King Triton, the film is bound to be a bona fide hit at the box office.
Though the upcoming and highly anticipated film will have stiff competition against two stand-up comedians on the weekend it releases, The Little Mermaid is destined to show that life is better down where it's wetter under the sea this Summer movie season. To find showtimes and streaming information on Disney's latest big-budget reimagining of an animated classic, here is where you can watch The Little Mermaid.
Actress Halle Bailey as Ariel, the iconic mermaid princess who longs to be part of the the mysteriously world housed above the ocean floor. When she saves the handsome Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) from a shipwreck, she makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) in order to gain human legs and go on land to impress him. But there's one catch to the transaction: Ariel must trade her voice in order for her to try and see the things she's after. But as fans of the original 1989 film know, this comes with a series of consequences that threaten both her existence and the lives of those she loves.
Before we ask if you're interested in seeing this, we know you are. But like us, you're probably wondering how to watch and stream The Little Mermaid online. Luckily, we have some clues and it's likely to land on a major streaming site very soon. So climb aboard, because here's where to watch and stream The Little Mermaid online.

What Is the Release Date for The Little Mermaid?

Ariel's quest to go from a mermaid into a human begins anew when The Little Mermaid premieres this Memorial Day Weekend on Friday, May 26th, 2023. The film will be going up against not one, but two stand-up comedians and their films that weekend, with Sebastian Maniscalco's About My Father and Bert Kreischer's The Machine premiering on the same day. That said, The Little Mermaid will almost certainly be the choice for younger audiences and families.
While some Disney films are heading straight to Disney+, The Little Mermaid will first be shown exclusively in theaters.

Where To Watch The Little Mermaid Online:

As of now, the only way to watch Fast X is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on May 26, 2023. You can find a local showing on Fandango.

Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple, or become available to stream on Disney+.

How to Watch The Little Mermaid

At the moment, you can watch The Little Mermaid at your local theater. But like most movies these days, it should hit a streaming website in the near future.
Like its predecessor, The Little Mermaid is a flick produced by multimedia conglomerate Disney. What's more, the production studio owns a number of other famous franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. Titles made under these umbrellas have both hit Disney+ sometime after arriving at the box office. Fans may also know the original Little Mermaid is currently available to stream on the site as well. So, if the 2023 version follows the same pattern, folks will likely get to see The Little Mermaid on Disney+ later this year too.
As for an exact release date for The Little Mermaid, that's more complicated. Most movies produced by Disney often go to its streamer site within three months after debuting in theaters, like the most recent Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If this is the case for The Little Mermaid, it will probably drop in late August 2023 or sometime near Labor Day in early September.
When the time comes for The Little Mermaid to splash onto Disney+ though, make sure you're all prepared to watch it. If you don't have access yet, you can opt into a 30-day free trial before choosing a plan that start at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. After your account is all set, click on the title page on Disney+'s official website or the Disney+ app.
As you wait for The Little Mermaid to hit the streamer, why don't you watch the animated version and its sequel The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea? Or if you want to immerse yourself in another live-action version, click on the 2019 ABC TV special The Little Mermaid Live!. Enjoy!

Will The Little Mermaid Be in Theaters or on Streaming?

Unlike several of Disney's other live-action remakes such as Pinocchio and Peter Pan & Wendy, The Little Mermaid will be exclusively in movie theaters first with tickets available for pre-sale now.
After The Little Mermaid has completed its exclusive theatrical run, the film will be released on the Disney+ streaming service. Based on Disney's past release models, the film won't be made available to stream before 45 to 90 days after its theatrical release.

When will The Little Mermaid be streaming on Disney+?

The Little Mermaid Disney+ premiere date is tentatively estimated to be August 30, 2023.
While no official Little Mermaid streaming date has been confirmed by Disney, most of its major movie releases drop on Disney+ following a minimum 90-day period, and typically premiere on the platform on Wednesdays, making Wednesday, August 30 the most likely date for Disney’s The Little Mermaid live-action streaming release.

Will The Little Mermaid Be Streaming On Disney+?

The 2023 version of The Little Mermaid will only be in theaters initially. After The Little Mermaid has completed its exclusive theatrical run, it is likely to stream on Disney Plus. You can also watch the animated version of Hans Christian Andersen's 1837 fairy tale of Ariel on Disney Plus now.
While you will only be able to catch the new "The Little Mermaid" in theaters starting next Friday, you can still sign up for Disney+ now to refresh yourself on the characters, song, plot and magical fun from the highly anticipated film. The 1989 version of the movie was a catalyst for Disney's animation renaissance throughout the '90s and it still holds up today.
An ad-supported Disney+ subscription starts at $8 per month, but you can get an ad-free access to the service for $11 monthly or bundle the Disney streaming service with Hulu and ESPN+ starting at $13 per month. Disney+ boasts a huge collection of movies and television series, including Marvel and Star Wars content. If you add in Hulu and ESPN, you have nearly unlimited entertainment at your fingertips.

Is The Little Mermaid streaming on Netflix?

No, The Little Mermaid will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. In the meantime, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available to stream on Disney+.

Will The Little Mermaid Be On HBO Max?

No, The Little Mermaid will not be on HBO Max since it’s not a Universal Pictures movie. Last year, the company released its films in theaters and on the streamer on the same day. However, they now allow a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the streaming release.

Is The Little Mermaid Available On Hulu?

Viewers are saying that they want to view the new animation movie The Little Mermaid on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.

The Little Mermaid was written by David Magee and directed by Rob Marshall. It stars the following actors:

What is The Little Mermaid About?

The official synopsis for The Little Mermaid by Walt Disney Studios read:
“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
There is not much mystery in The Little Mermaid's plot. As seen in Disney's many other live-action remakes, it is anticipated that the film's plot will largely stick to the original. With the well-known song "Part of Your World," in which Ariel sings about her wish to be a part of the world beyond the water, i.e., the human realm, the teaser already alluded to Ariel's fascination with the human world. Fans will get to see Ariel and Prince Eric's romance as they deal with the challenges posed by their differences.

2023.06.01 14:14 DisastrousAd5865 Any tips for finding a good affirming church?

I live in the south, and where I live it is hard to find any Christians with similar views as me. I’ve pretty much been to the worst of the worst when it comes to conservative churches and Christian groups. I currently occasionally attend a church that is very “neutral” on things. They seem like genuinely good and nice people but I know they take the Bible very literally. They’re the type to say “love the sinner, hate the sin”. There is a lesbian couple at the church and everyone is nice to them. I was told that church members attended their wedding but refused to clap or show any more support. It just makes me so uncomfortable to know I’m going to a church that feels that way. I don’t know how to find a church that is truly affirming in my area.
