2023.06.01 14:46 DittoDepot Am I being lame?

Ever since hitting my mid 30s, I have really been over the bar scene here in my area. My boyfriend on the other hand still enjoys going out and getting drunk with his friends. And he would usually comment on how I’m lame and boring for not wanting to go out to the bar every week.
Cut to this weekend. My boyfriend was invited to a wedding Friday night. That didn’t include a guest so I was not invited. These are for people I wouldn’t say are our friends but associates, people we only see when we go out and about to the bars. Outside of that I have zero communication with this group of people . I have no plans Friday night but my boyfriend let me know that there is an after after party after this wedding that it’s going to take place at a popular bar near the wedding venue. This bar is about 35 minutes away from where we live, and I know my boyfriend let me know about these after after party because he wants me to join him at the bar Friday night. I would totally be down to go for a drink out but honestly I don’t want to go to this after after wedding event. It’s for an event I wasn’t invited to people I’m not necessarily friends with. I can’t drink since I’m going to have to drive back home 35 minutes away. And I know my boyfriends going to think I’m lame and boring for not going.
Honestly, I’d rather if I do go out just grab a margarita at a Mexican restaurant near the house and chill at home. Because I hate waking up hung over and being a total waste of space and feeling like shit the next day. I want to go shopping and do different things different things over the weekend and open to meeting up with actual close friends for a drink or something over the weekend. But I know me not going to this event is going to cut into the quality time that me and my boyfriend spend over the weekend. Because I know he’s going to go drinking at the bar after this wedding and attend all the after after parties and then he’s going to sleep the entire weekend because he’s going to be so hung over. He tends to do this most weekends.
Am I being a bump on the log for not wanting to go to this after after party and not wanting to be in the bar scene as heavy as my boyfriend? We are both in our mid to late 30s.

2023.06.01 14:44 icycseen Wonder if my partner is building resentment among the kids

My partner is starting to be open with me about how unhappy they are about having children. He’s mention he often wonders what life is like without them for “us” but also just himself. He loves them, is an active and helpful dad but often says his days revolve around parenting, work and repeat and he resents that. This issue is separate.. Recently he’s gotten too vocal about things to the kids that I fear will build resentment among them. Finances have gotten tight and he’s not necessarily vocal about that, but is vocal about not rushing through groceries. Separately he’s vocal to them about his lack of time to spare or how sharing has to be dispersed. Examples… he mentions to them directly that if “there were only you (meaning no siblings) you could have all the orange juice you want.” He went and got donuts for the family and everyone got one, I came out to eat mine and he had cut mine up and given the kids the rest of mine and his as well. “if there were less of you you could have all the donuts you want”. I felt frustrated because he complains then he gives them extra when one big donut with other breakfast sides was fine. It’s a rarity for us to ever get big donuts from a shop and I was excited for mine. I explain I felt he isn’t teaching them that we can all share and enjoy things together, and his own resentment will build because he feels they “take all of our nice things”. We aren’t teaching them to appreciate what they have, but to always want more. Another example is that he will say “i don’t have enough ears for all of you” (understandable.. but rude I feel) “i don’t have enough time for all of you”. “if there were just you we could do things like go here or there (expensive place, fun for kids like amusement park or restaurants or so on)”. I worry these comments will build to make the kids resent each other or resent having a large family. The idea is it’s already too late. We have a large family and that is how it is. Is there anything I can do to make them happy and appreciate the family that they are in with the resources we have? We aren’t rich, but we aren’t badly off, we have a beautiful home and yard, we get fun things occasionally, we have gone on lovely trips. But it’s never “enough” for my partner.

2023.06.01 14:44 GameLeaksPlayz LIBAD is a POP album not a heavy metal album (which is awesome)

Yes… I’m not even joking. LIBAD is 40% metal and 60% anything else
We Love You is Metal mixed with classical sound
Mattel is heavy metal (the only true metal song on the album)
Nobody is hard rock and opera lol
We Love You is Thrash and Disco Jazz
Cosmic is literally a classic in the making that belongs on classical radio or soft rock 🤯
Beautiful Morning sounds like 70s heavy metal mixed in with country
Easier is literally a heavy Kayne West song With some southern sounding old school rock
G is like Van Halen Dream Theater Iron Maiden Beach Boys Lynyrd Skynyrd Zach Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Kayne West all decided to make a heavy metal song. This might be my favorite song just because of how funky it is. I love how it’s about God realizing how fucked up humanity has gone and just deleted us.
(O)rdinary is dance rhythm, beach country pop electronic music. This has ZERO metal in it. Like this is a POP song. You will hear it on alternative rock and Pop radio stations.
(D)earth is beautiful and gets your heart pumping at the end! But like there’s no heavy metal in it lol. It’s loud classical instruments.
LIBAD is just piano and should be played on classical radio stations.
So yeah not a heavy metal album. But ITS AWESOME

2023.06.01 14:43 YOtomyself 7 Latest Updates on SEO That You Should Know

Each business needs a strong online presence in the modern digital economy to succeed. SEO is essential for increasing a website’s traffic and exposure on search engine result pages. However, SEO writing is a discipline that is constantly changing, with new upgrades and algorithms appearing all the time. We’ll go over the nine most recent SEO updates in this article so you can stay informed and keep your website’s search engine optimization up to date.

What is SEO Service?

To improve a website’s visibility on search engine results pages, businesses or individuals may offer SEO writing services. To improve a website’s position in search engine results and boost organic traffic, a variety of tactics are frequently utilized in the industry, including keyword research, on-page optimization, link building, and content generation. SEO-friendly material can be tailored to a company’s specific requirements and goals, whether they be to enhance online sales, improve local visibility, or increase brand awareness.

Latest Updates on SEO

These are the latest updates on SEO that are crucial:

1. Google Algorithm Updates

Google makes adjustments to its search engine algorithms known as Google SEO Updates in order to provide users with the most precise and trustworthy search results. These adjustments may have a major influence on website traffic and exposure, which may have an effect on how websites are ranked in search results. The most relevant content will always be displayed in response to search queries thanks to recent upgrades like Core Web Vitals, Passage Ranking, and Page Experience.

2. Mobile-First Indexing

In order to rank websites, Google uses a “Mobile-First Indexing” process that takes into account how well they work on mobile devices. To give users the best possible experience when viewing websites on their smartphones or tablets, Google SEO Updates has prioritized mobile-first indexing. Unresponsive websites may see a loss in traffic and rankings, whereas mobile-friendly websites are more likely to rank higher in search engine results pages.

3. Local SEO

A strategy called local SEO is used to improve a website’s visibility in local search results. It is essential for businesses that rely on regional customers, such as brick-and-mortar stores, restaurants, and service-based businesses. In order to rank locally, a website’s content and metadata must be optimized for local keywords as well as local citations and backlinks. Google My Business, which gives businesses the ability to manage their online presence and rank in Google’s Local Pack, a crucial element of local search results, is also crucial to local SEO.

4. Voice Search Optimization

The content and design of a website are improved through voice search optimization so that voice search assistants like Apple’s Siri, Google Assistant, and Amazon’s Alexa can locate it easily. As more people turn to voice search to access various information online, businesses must optimize their websites to remain relevant and visible to their target audience. Creating conversational content and structuring data for voice assistants to comprehend and respond to is known as voice search optimization.

5. Semantic Search

To completely understand the purpose behind a user’s search query and provide more pertinent search results, search engines use semantic search technology. Semantic search provides users with the most relevant information even when a search query does not exactly match the content on a website. Websites ought to create excellent instructional content that uses natural language, addresses a variety of connected subjects, and is tailored for semantic search.

6. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

The creation of SEO content is changing dramatically because to machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). Machine learning (ML), a subtype of AI that enables computers to learn from experience, is not the same as artificial intelligence (AI), which defines computer systems that can perform tasks that often require human intelligence, such as natural language processing. To enhance search engine algorithms, assess user behaviour and search trends, and find optimization opportunities, AI and ML are applied to SEO. It helps companies identify their target market and improve their SEO efforts for better outcomes.

7. Video SEO

Video SEO is the process of making a website’s video content as search engine friendly as possible. It involves improving the video’s metadata, including the titles, descriptions, and tags, as well as inserting relevant keywords everywhere throughout the video. The length of the video, interaction data, and the quality of the thumbnail image are additional factors that could have an impact on video SEO. By optimizing their video content, businesses may increase views, engagement, and overall search engine rankings.

Conclusion

It’s crucial for businesses to stay up to date on SEO developments if they want to maintain their competitiveness and online visibility. The SEO landscape is always evolving due to factors like semantic search, mobile-first indexing, and voice search optimization. By staying abreast of industry advancements and putting the most recent SEO improvements into practice, businesses may increase the exposure of their website and attract more organic visitors. The importance of staying up to date has increased as a result of search engines’ emphasis on user experience and high-quality content. 2023.06.01 14:40 Beneficial_Wasabi920 AITAH for crying about my sister not going to my graduation?

I (18 f) am graduating from highschool in a couple days, and was planning on having my whole family come. My whole life I’ve been very close to my sisters, and in general my family is just really important to me. I have two older sisters and I went to both of their highschool graduations and I plan on attending their college graduations, whenever they graduate. One of my sisters, we’ll call her Amy (20 f) has been having a really hard time with her mental health for the past few months. She’s had ADHD her whole life and in March she was diagnosed with depression and OCD, and had to stay at a hospital for a few weeks. My parents and my sister, never gave me or my other sister full details, but it was definitely very serious. Since then, she has been up and down, but overall has been doing a lot better. The biggest struggle is that she’s been put on a lot of medication for her mental health, and has been having a lot of trial and error with the medication she’s been receiving, and is still going through the process of seeing what medication works for her. This has definitely been hard on her, and I support her as much as possible, and of course I love my sister and I want her to be okay, so I’ve been supportive and gentle towards her for the past few months shes been home. My parents are also of course very supportive towards her, and have been trying to be really accommodating towards her with everything. And again, I totally understand this and I’ve been very accomodating towards her too, picking her up from places and buying her food and clothes, because I understand that she’s had a really tough time so I do just want to make her life a lot easier. However, I feel like my parents have been too accommodating, because when I asked my sister if she was excited to see me graduate in a couple days, she said that she wasn’t going. I was shocked, and asked her why. She said that her boyfriend and her friends are going to a beach house that day and staying for a couple days there, so she’s gonna miss my graduation to go up there instead. She said that my parents said it was okay for her to go but, she said she felt bad about not going to my graduation. I went up to my room and just cried, because I really love my sister, and I really wanted her to be there supporting me on my graduation. I asked my mom about it, and she said that since Amy has had such a tough time, and she wanted to give her some fun. I told her I understood, but just not on my graduation, literally any other day would’ve been fine, but I really wanted her to be there. My mom said she would talk to my dad and my sister, but now I just feel like and AH. I do want my sister to have fun, but now I feel like I’m forcing her to go to my graduation, and taking her away from something she’d enjoy more. I just feel really selfish and guilty now, so amd I the AH?

2023.06.01 14:39 BlueMonk0 Kyle Beach Chant on draft night: lets organize?

Ok yall, as we all know FUCK the blawkhawks. They're drafting first overall IN NASHVILLE
We have the perfect opportunity to make a statement and show support for a true victim in Kyle Beach.
The plan is simple. Show up, wait for Bettman and whoever to go on stage getting ready to announce the blackhawks pick and start a Kyle Beach chant as loud as we can for as long as we can.
The NHL can sweep it under the rug as much as they want but fuck that noise.
I think we can get a sizable enough crowd for this. The main thing hurdles I see are the draft is Wednesday night and as far as I can tell the cheapest tickets are $65 so that puts a damper on things a bit.
Any thoughts?
Can we get enough people to make this audible through the whole arena and on live TV?

2023.06.01 14:37 AA56561 [Procurement] Type 1001 LST & Type 1002 LCACs

Type 1001 LST

In a hypothetical conflict over the issue of Reunification of the Chinese people, it is possible that the People’s Liberation Army Navy must be able to help deploy great numbers of troops and their heavy equipment straight to the landing zones, in a highly contested environment brimming with stand-off munitions, artillery and other hazards. To meet this challenge, the designers of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation have come up with the Type 1001 class LST vessels. As it stands, the People’s Liberation Army Navy operates more than 60 landing ships of various sizes and types, with some being “ancient” by any definition of the world.
The Type 1001 LST vessel has a length of 165 meters, a width of 25 meters and a displacement of a whopping 12,000 tons. It will be able to transport up to twenty main battle tanks of the ZTZ-99A standard, or a mix of other vehicles such as APCs, IFVs and armored vehicles, as well as up to 500 troops and 2,000 tons of supplies or other pieces of cargo. The vessels of the class will have a beaching capability, meaning they can unload their carried hardware directly onto the beaches. Should this be deemed too dangerous, the vessels will also have the necessary facilities for the utilization of smaller LCACs or LCUs.
In order to permit aerial operations, the vessels will be fitted with a helicopter deck, capable of being used by two medium-sized helicopters at a time. These helicopters may be used in landing operations, or may serve alternative purposes such as the exchange of personal or additional hardware. As the vessels are expected to serve in heavily contested environments, they will be equipped with close-in-weapons-systems, as well as a modern radar and communication suite to permit for optimal coordination between commanders and surveillance of the surroundings. A total of 10 such vessels are expected to be procured by the People’s Liberation Army Navy as soon as possible.

Type 1002 LCACs

The Type 1002 LCACs are expected to serve in conjunction with the rest of China’s amphibious forces, and play an absolutely critical role in transporting military hardware across the Strait of “Taiwan” in any potential and hypothetical conflict. With the ability to transport more than 100 tons and 300 soldiers per trip, the Type 1002 LCACs promise to massively expand the amphibious capabilities of the People’s Liberation Army Navy. The vessels will utilize an advanced air cushion system, allowing for them to operate over ground, marshes and water, with them effectively hovering over any obstacles. This capability will be very important in any theoretical landings.
The vessels will be capable of achieving high speeds of around 40 knots, and will be designed to be as agile as possible. Seeing as the LCACs will enter zones which are hostile, they will receive armor plating to offer increased protection against small arms fire, shrapnel, and low-level ballistic threats. Additionally, each LCAC will be equipped with multiple small caliber machine guns and a single CIWS, to fend off enemy troops and potential munitions against the vessel.

My random thoughts:
  • Soul Eater has a firm hold on #1 most mentioned book for two months in a row now (and was #11 before that) - clearly the When She Belongs fan club is going to have to step up their game!
  • We had 5 authors break into the top 20 most mentioned this month: Kati Wilde, KJ Charles, JT Geissinger, Eve Dangerfield, and Emily Henry. A personal victory for the Kati Wilde rep, Eve Dangerfield's movement is not surprising given the great AMA she did, and of course Emily Henry had a new book Happy Place that some people didn't vibe with while others enjoyed the easter eggs. KJ Charles and JT Geissinger's rise is more curious though - any thoughts on what's behind their bump?
  • Without fail, every time I read "Morning Glory by LaVyrle Spencer" my brain only reads the beginning and immediately assumes Morning Glory Milking Farm - which then causes whiplash as I double check why on earth MGMF would be one of the top Low Steam books mentioned...
Hope you enjoyed this month's stats!
